We should be able to get more than Bratt. At least a lottery protected 1st. Maybe Zacha too

Tkachuk could easily sign his QO and then leave in a year. If you can get Bratt for him that’s a steal.

Trade Tkachuk to Arizona and let him stoke his ego in front of 5000 fans.

Not a chance, he’ll command half as much probably. He’s needed. If you’re going down that road you ship Toffoli first.

Flames need cap space very badly and Lucic is a past his prime bottom sixer eating up $5.25 million, he should expect to be shopped.

Bingo mentioned the Flames may have found him a home. Would have been nice to get that done prior to free agency so the team has some certainty of what they have available for cap space.

Bratt has to come with an unprotected first and a decent prospect. MT is a top 5 winger in the league

I’m not sure you know what a “steal” is. Tkachuk could also sign long term, and has more assists than Bratt has career points despite only being 7 months older. Hell, Tkachuk scored over 40 goals this season… Bratt has 70 goals over 5 seasons.
These players are on completely different levels. A steal? Jesus.

Tough to watch the Flames sit there and do nothing as they continue to gamble on them signing both players to long term deals.
Like, I'm really worried now what the "pivot" is gonna be for the Flames if they lose Johnny.
So far the confidence is not there. Still 5 days to go though. But man, the "what ifs" are really creeping in right now.

If Johnny walks I'd love to see it happen a few days after free agency day. Hopefully most players are gone and Treliving can't go after guys like Kadri

I know its just Mike Johnson but TSN video of him thinking Johnny's done in Calgary...
My hopes and dreams are dwindling and it doesn't feel good.

I agree....protection from the idiot in charge.
By Day 3 James Neal and Troy Brouwer should be cheap

Yup. We'd also better make sure the Flames can't waste their money on bums like Markstrom and Tanev.

Saw a Tweet from Dreger that the Kings and Kempe agreed to a 4 year deal for 22 million or so. Could be a good comparable for Mangiapane. Both guys blew up their previous career high to get 35 goals this past year.

Who would have been happy for just the second overall straight up?

I say that too and was a bit surpised that was all he got. But 4 years lines him up for a big pay day again next contract.
If Johnny walks I hope Mangiapane signs for longer but I would easily take this deal for him as well.
I do think Kempe is better though.

I would have done it and taken Wright. Cap problems are solved and if Johnny stayed and you ditched Monahan and Lucic you could go after someone pretty good

If we knew Johnny was leaving, yeah I would’ve done that. A move like that would do two things:
1. Kicks off our rebuild with a #2 pick.
2. Kicks off the “tanking” portion of the rebuild by making us a significantly worse team for 22/23, with more selling trades to follow.
Would it have been ideal for just #2? No, and I think NJD was probably adding to it in that move…but it would have been a strong step to rebuilding.

If Tre doesn't think or know Chucky will sign long term and still didn't take the supposed 2nd overall pick then he should be fired. If he knows he's going to sign Chucky long term then it's a good move not to do the deal.
