Haha
Eichel comes back to play for Vegas when half their team is already out injured, and somehow it's his fault that they're losing (to some people).

It's still an $81M lineup
6-11-1 with him in the lineup

Their team would not nearly fit under the cap if they had everyone healthy.

Of course not, but they won't be missing all of the players they are right now.

Tuch and Krebs would look good in that lineup right now

Yep.
I don't blame Eichel... but their LTIR was there before the trade and they're well over the cap if those players return. I just think they were doing better before Eichel - even after the trade and before Eichel was playing - they seemed to be doing better. Chemistry is a weird science in hockey - and of course I have no idea if it's Eichel or not, or even if one of the players they traded for him could have upset the room, or if it's the many injuries they have - we just don't know.
Many deadline or blockbuster trades that look so good on paper just don't pan out - especially deadline ones.

But the Knights had a particular strategy this year, a strategy that seemed somewhat sketchy, but they did it anyway and it doesn't seem to be working out for them. They could still make the playoffs, but time is running out for them to make a run.
Why do their failures bring some Flames fans joy (myself included)? Because they thought they had outsmarted everyone by snagging Eichel (a player the Flames were in the running for) and using LTIR to make it all work. Now it seems their plan is blowing up in their face.
|
It is absolutely blowing up in their faces and I couldn't be happier. Pieces of crap should have never been able to snipe Eichel with their current cap structure, but they did it anyways. I hope it blows up in their faces every season until Eichel retires. Stupid franchise.

Doesnt matter if Eichel is making them worse right now, important thing is Vegas is no good, and I love it.

Vegas could have traded Dadonov well ahead of the trade deadline and avoided this mess but they took the classic college kid approach and waited till the last second to submit.

I think the most critical piece to VGK's success (now that MA Fleury is gone) is Mark Stone. They have looked substantially worse since he was placed on IR, and this happened to coincide with Eichel's activation.
The thing is, regardless of what happens this season, VGK will need to make HUGE changes over the summer in order to get to cap compiance by next October. This was their one shot, and it has turned into a disaster.

Embarrassing is how everyone wanted Treliving's head on a silver plate for not going after damaged goods.
Also it doesn't matter if Vegas has everyone healthy back. They are winning ZILCH with Lehner as their starting goalie.

I think Lehner is out to the end of the season.

If so, why the hell aren't they putting him on LTIR? Doing so would create the room for Martinez.
And if they put Patches and McNabb on LTIR, they could activate Stone (when he's ready)
But at some point, they are going to have to pay their bills.

Flames dodged a bullet with Eichel.
Vegas will be screwed next season.

It’s true, Eichel is an excellent player.
It isn’t his fault.
Either way, ###k Vegas.

Eichel is good, he isn't a 10M player...let alone all the assets
net loss for Vegas on the deal
