Ugh, Murica. News outlets with various reports on fatalities, lets hope it is only 2, "just" 2 would be a miracle.

I'm watching ABC news on TV, but I'm sure you can go to their webpage

It's Texas, I expect every teacher will be forced to be armed with an AR-15 by the end of the week, as the "solution" here.

Give it a few hours and they'll be back talking about the important stuff - like complaining about people complaining about Ricky Gervais trans jokes.

I mean, it's super sad and all, but the really important thing is that we don't politicize this tragedy.

Fourteen students and a teacher are dead after a shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, according to Gov. Greg Abbott.

The 18-year-old suspect, a student at Uvalde High School, is also dead, he said.

"He shot and killed horrifically and incomprehensibly 14 students and killed a teacher," Abbott said during an unrelated press briefing.

U.S. rate is still very low when you consider the enormous number of trips (20 million a year) while the number in Jamaica is alarming considering the much small number of visits (300k). No idea what the heck was going on in Burkina Faso.
None of this seems to logically be consistent when you see news of things like the below:

I don't think Texas elementary schools or concerts on the Las Vegas strip are equivalent to Baltimore gang land.

I think anytime people try to go on and wax poetic about the state of America and how safe things are, within the juxtaposition of the most guns per capita and gun deaths per capita and then advent of mass shootings (on basically a daily basis), things aren't adding up here.

I mean, stats are stats, so there is that. But with every mass shooting down in that 3rd world country and especially when it's a gunman entering a school and killing kids, I move further and further away from the US being a safe place from being shot, relatively.

Arming teachers alone won't fix anything. They are also going to need lots of thoughts and prayers.

As horrific of a thing this is to say, as a tourist, it’s not like you’re going into an elementary school, so shootings like this really shouldn’t sway you one way or the other. They certainly should sway you MORE than a shooting at a mall or shopping center.

I'm hoping now that this investigation doesn't reveal again that authorities at one point talked to this 18 year old in the past but deemed him not a threat to the public...

When Sandy Hook didn't wake up the nation, nothing will. Or maybe it did, but the lobbyists are just too powerful. Either way, nothing changes.

The Sheriff (I think) made a quick statement as they are still investigating, so didn't take questions. He did make sure to ask people to have the victims in their prayers though. Glad they're still making sure to keep thoughts and prayers at top of mind.

Gotta arm the students. AR-15’s for every kindergarten and elementary school kid. Body armor in the coat closet.
