The only way that they can get out of the carousel of bad pitching is to hold onto their high end prospects instead of constantly trading them away and 'going for it', only to fall out of the playoffs anyway.
I wouldn't mind if they were a combination of buyer and seller at this deadline. If they trade someone, bring back an alternative in another form, from a position of strength.

Pompey since being demoted to double A and since returning to triple A is hitting .397 in the last 42 games.
Wouldn't hurt calling him up and sticking him in LF.
Joba's first appearance in Buffalo 2K's in 1 IP and was throwing 95. DFA Loup and call him up.

Not sure Rockies would want Reyes at this stage though, other than to flip him elsewhere?
