Not good enough. Spilling even a drop is not cool. I've considered asking them to only fill it 4/5ths of the way, but then I realize that that would be a little too high maintenance, so I just dump a bit with my own two hands. I guess I'm just a guy that doesn't want spilled drinks in my truck, and I'm too much of a ##### to slam down a few sips as I leave the DT. Until just now, I was completely unaware that this was a gear grinder for anyone.

Yeah, and then when you order one you can act like a smug know-it-all like I do.

The green stoppers are good enough for me, but before that I just wrapped a couple of napkins around the cup before I put it in the cup holder. The cup holder keeps the napkins in place, and any spillage is handily absorbed.

We were on a train in Frankfurt a few weeks ago waiting to go to the airport and a guy walked in and opened the small garbage can in the seats behind us and checked inside a cup of coffee then put it back. He then came over to our seats and reached across to check our garbage. He pulled out a cup opened it and proceeded to drink the dregs from the bottom.
I thought he was the only person who cared about wasting coffee.

I used to work with a woman who was responsible for millions of dollars of other people's money; brilliant woman, superbly educated. But, she would never go downstairs to the Starbucks in our building, on her own, because she said she thought they wouldn't know what she meant if she asked for a small or medium. She'd only go down with someone from the office, and tell them what she wanted and get one of us to order it, because we 'spoke Starbucks.' I never quite understood that.

I found out the other day that you're supposed to ask the Starbucks people to "leave room" if you want to leave room for cream, etc. to avoid the dumping out syndrome.

fox - why are you moving tv shows that are on tuesdays to play after the superbowl, but to not actually show them at the scheduled times (early timeshift AND late time shift) to have the early time slot delayed by the game, and the late timeshift to be not shown due to news conferences
- i recorded both times just in case ... neither were the actual shows
do you not want people to watch the shows and download them instead?

Always set the PVR to receord the next few shows as well as the scheduled show you want. That's what I always do.

I've clicked on "The Back Burner" thread a dozen or so times since the Olympic forum opened up and pushed it down to where Off Topic used to be. I obviously don't read the forum titles anymore.

The city finally got around to plowing the road I was complaining about a few weeks ago. The road had become driveable (albeit very rutted) but it was at least passable. Now they've come and plowed the street and left a pile of snow all along the center. There's barely enough room (if any) for cars to park without blocking the now divided road.
I'm fine with them plowing. Awesome, after 2 months it's finally plowed. The problem is all it took was half a second of critical thinking to see that there was no room for all the snow and all they had to do was plow the top half in order to satisfactorily clean up the ruts.

When arriving home from a warm destination and upon touching down the pilot announces the current gawd awful weather conditions and everyone on the plane collectively groans, looks at each other and rolls their eyes. Even better when someone says "we should have stayed in X!". You all knew you were coming back to this barren wasteland we call home.

Almost as bad as the people that aren't happy on warm vacations unless they know it's -20 at home, and making sure everyone they know is aware of temperature difference.

At least you got to go to a warm destination this winter. Many of us didn't, so don't complain

There's a drypond at the end of the road so they could always just dump it there. Or they could just use a little brainpower and plow in a manner that will leave the road in better shape and not worse.

I'm in the same boat. I complained and complained about the road conditions with 2 feet deep snow catching cars all the time. After the melt, the road was finally becoming driveable, bumpy, but you could still drive on top of it in parts to pass an oncoming vehicle. Then the city announced they would be doing snow removal. Well, I guess by "removal" then only meant from the center of the road and not the road itself. Since that announcement, I've counted 8 plow trucks come by and push the large ice blocks to the side against parked cars. Since we didn't get any warning (didn't even do it on the week scheduled), they couldn't get close to the road edge. This pushed the parking area 2-3 feet further into the road on each side. They should have just left it. Doesn't take a genius to realize leaving a 2-3 foot high berm of ice blocks on top of the parking area is going to cause a problem.
When the city announced there would be snow removal for all areas and that it was going to cost a lot, where did that money go?
