Reinhart with 1G and 3A tonight.
38pts in 15 games since coming back from the WJC

Too bad some trash team is probably going to waste him.

That's too narrow of a range. If we don't finish with a top 3 pick then I'd suggest researching all of Dal Colle, Draisaitl, Perlini, Ritchie and Fleury. Don't see us taking Nylander because he's another undersized skilled winger which we're already deep in. All the forwards I've listed have size and skill and Fleury seems to be the 2nd best defenseman at this point.

Like Colorado is "wasting" MacKinnon? Like Florida is "wasting" Barkov? Not really sure what point you're tying to make here.

Florida will waste Barkov because they're a pathetic franchise. Colorado isn't a perpetual loser so they're not relevant to that statement.

In my opinion Jake Virtanen's name belongs well within that conversation as well, and if fact I would personally select him ahead of his most direct comparable on that list in Nick Ritchie.

I'm going to let go of the Ekblad dream... There's no way we out-suck the Coil & Sabres. We can hope for some draft-day heroics from Burke or that Ekblad drops a few places, or dream that we win the lottery, but for now I'm going to give up the ghost.
After Reinhart, Ekblad & Bennett I'm most intrigued by Draisaitl, Fleury, Dal Colle & Virtanen (whose stock seems to be rising).

There really isn't much concern about us finishing 4th or 5th vs 2nd/3rd. Other than Reinhart who has moved ahead of the rest with 38 points in 15 games since the WJC, the other guys are not that far apart. Ideally, we'd get Reinhart, but unless we fluke out with a lotto win, we are likely going to be getting a quality 2nd liner or marginal first liner with any of the other forwards. We need those types too. You can never have enough skill.
Also I hope above all else that we do not take Ritchie or Fleury. Ritchie isn't that good at thinking the game and we are not finishing 8th or 9th where Fleury should go. Just because we need defensemen badly, doesn't negate that we still really need 2-3 really top end forwards too.
If I was picking my order in the top 5 would be
1. Reinhart
2. Bennett
3. Ekblad
4. Dal Colle
5. one of the other forwards not Ritchie/Nylander (not enough information yet)

Just for comparison, since the WJCs
Drouin 15gp 6g 24a 30pts +18
Reinhart 15gp 16g 22a 38pts +23

Reinhart is starting to look like he's in the conversation with Hall and MacKinnon for top #1 pick in the last 5 years

Unless the Flames win the lottery it's over for Ekblad, Reinhart, and Bennett. Islanders will most definitely be picking 2nd overall now that Tavares is done as they will soon trade Vanek, and tank. Realistically the Flames will likely be picking around 5th and unfortunately this isn't the draft where you are going to get great value at 5th.

Yeah. MacKinnon is special. Colorado knew what they were doing taking him 1st overall.

The more I realize we are not picking in the top 3 the more I am liking Fleury as our pick. Big strong D man that we could really use.

Maybe if we are picking in the 10 - 15 range...
Top 5 - 7, no.
Dal Colle, Draisaitl, Virtanen, Ritchie are all better options at our current position... Wish we could snag Bennett

Agreed. If we take Fleury in the 5-6 range ahead of a Dal Colle, Ritchie or Draisaitl, I think we would be hurting ourselves.

Not a chance Fleury drops to the 10-15 range, he has been steadily climbing as we head to draft day. I don't think any of those guys you listed are going to be impact players. maybe Dal Colle but I still think even he will be a 3rd liner.

I think it's an easier pill to swallow if you throw a propect in with our #1 to move up from 4th/5th. If we add say a Granlund with our 4th/5th overall to get into Ekblad range, I could handle it. If we were 3rd and just needed to bump the Oil down, while it'll still be gratifying it seems too much to give up to move that short of gap. Burkie will make his magic happen to get the guy he wants and feels is best for this team.

Meh, personally I'd just rather keep Granlund and draft whoever we get at 4th.
If it was both Granlund and Draisatl (sp?) or just one of Reinhart or Eklbad, I'm going with the two.
