For those of you interested, apparently west bar and restaurant plans on being open tomorrow so everyone should come down and ask to be seated on the patio and see what happens. Should be a fun day there

I would assume the power would be shut down in all of Victoria Park since they issued the evacuation notice at around 6:00 PM.

Not to make light of the situation, but Calgary stories have made it onto the international section of CNN before, but this is literally the biggest story on CNN.com. Really puts it in perspective, as American news outlets know that Americans typically don't give a **** about things that happen outside their borders, so they tend to shy away from non-American events, or at least hide them.

Is this a terrible comment, or are jokes the best way to cope with terrible situations? From the comments on cnn.com

I work at the Trimac building. On 5th ave. I'm thinking that building will be closed. People hear anything about that building?

http://www.cocnmp.com/eoc/Deerun.pdf I saw someone earlier post all of Deer Run is up for evacuation but that is not true. Here is a map to show the areas of this community for the time being.

Planning on taking a cab from 17th Ave to Lakeview. Is that expected to be a problem in an hour or so? Thanks.

And the best part is you it doesn't matter if you are perceived as either Lisa or Ralph it still come across as a passive aggressive insult.

Thanks MMF!

^I'd have to assume so. If you think cabs are hard enough to get in Calgary normally, with all the road closures and people having to vacate areas, getting a cab now could be a nightmare.

No concerns for you. Far removed from the issues and Crowchild will be clear

Edit: if you get a cab

The Windsor Park evac seems to be for the area around the Calgary Golf and country club clubhouse.

I guess I don't need to ask "Is this a thing now?"

Jeebus. The CNN comments section is making the Sun comments section look like a MENSA forum.

People are being told to not go downtown tomorrow. I think everybody who is not out helping people should treat this as a 'snow day', just hunker down, don't use any phone services/ roads etc that you don't need to, and offer any help you can give to those who have either been forced from their homes or have made the decision to not stay there just in case.
