In 2010 more people were unemployeed in this city than they are today. That allowed them to get out early to vote. A lot of those unemployed were the young vote which helped Nenshi get into office. I assume the turnout will improve post 5pm, but I don't think as many will vote as they did in 2010.
My general understanding is most do not see a viable alternative to Nenshi this year so that will lower the turnout (as most will just assume Nenshi will be reelected).

I don't live in 13 anymore, but I did for 10 of the DCU years, and let's just say she's my least favourite person on council ever.
If I lived there myself, I'd run... even though I'd have a sliver's chance.
Slava- DO IT!

I'm pretty sure this would be something all of CP would get behind. Myself especially! Do it, Slava!

Salva ran in the last election in ward 11 I believe. I saw him putting up signs on elbow drive. (Athough I think that was for public trustee?)
The ballot box lady I saw at 4pm said it has been a large turnout so far for her and her mayoral box is basically full. (I'm sure they must have to empty those things or use multiple boxes?) I could hardly squish my ballot in the box.

Anecdotally I've noticed considerably less purple Facebook profile pictures this election. I'm not expecting anything other than a runaway Nenshi victory but I wouldn't be surprised if he receives less votes than last election.

In Lethbridge the advanced polls had a 30% increase over the last election, I'm interested to see the turnout for the rest of our polls.

Last time over 200,000 people voted. This time, I'd be surprised if 50,000 decide to vote.

Last time we had a tight, three way mayoral race. This time the incumbent will be elected by a landslide, as usual.
I wouldn't bother if I didn't have an opinion on the councillor/trustee ballot.

If Slava runs, I volunteer to be that campaign volunteer that specializes in dirty tricks, bribery and covert assassinations.

Yes, that was me. School Trustee was a lot more difficult for a few reasons. Alderman/Councillor would be easier in some ways (harder in others).

Just found out John Mar told my condo board if we want a piece of important municipal property properly landscaped, we would have to pay for it ourselves. Go f*** yourself John Mar, that's what I pay my taxes for. I'm not paying more money to landscape a property that a) isn't legally mine, and b) you already collect taxes from us for.
Hello Evan Woolley, you just gained my vote with one hour to spare.

Last time I advised Slava on his campaign. I'd do it again without hesitation. He's smart and well intentioned - the kind of elected official we need.

It may be by local improvement. That's not uncommon.
You're blaming someone for something that's not up to him.

I would try to destroy Slava's campaign with a sex scandal.

If Slava runs for alderman, I will be in charge of the signs.
Slava to 1stLand: You Idiot! You spent $10,000 on signs that say "vote for Slava!" That isn't my Real name!
1stLand: D'oh!

In that case, say hello to the same answer from Wolley.
You can see what he wants to do by reading his twitter dialogue last night. He wants to spend, spend and spend some more.

Lined up out the door at Sunnyside school!
Kudo's to Farrell and Taylor for the campaign signs along the pathway and the bridge - that's a heads up election day play!

So this kind of bothered me: after placing my 'X' and going up to the ballot box, the lady there took my ballots (I thought they couldn't do this) and proceeded to open them up and see who I voted for.
I said "what are you doing?"
She says "I just wanted to see."
Then she put them in the box.
I just walked away stunned. Serious... WTF!?!
