Really cool that Kulak's joining the team. Awesome experience for him and perhaps even more so because he gets to see a team in a do-or-die playoff contention situation.
The more he experiences, the better.

If they were digital I could and would, but they give us physical copies. If you'd like to know a player(s) average ice time, I could help you out.

For those who are interested, Wahl has had a goal and two assists in 9 games playing with the phantoms, following his trade to Philadelphia.

You are probably the biggest boon for Flames fans interested in how our prospects are doing in the heat. How much ice do Reinhart, Nemisz and Horak see per game approximately?
I am worried about Nemisz' production. He looked decent in his few games for the Flames last year. Has he regressed significantly this year?

Reinhart: 16:00-18:00
Nemisz: 10:00-14:00
Horak: 13:00-15:00
Nemisz has been the giant walking epitome of bad luck. He gets so many chances and works so damn hard both in-game and at practice. It's a true shame that he isn't getting the same point totals he's been getting since his career started with the Heat.
With that said, he's contributing in other ways. He's used on #1 PK with Bancks and he's fearless at blocking shots. Maybe not Carter Bancks fearless, but he's still fearless.
Some games he'll get a bit of PP time and some games he won't. Just depends on how he looks throughout the game.

Nice to see Reinhart get good minutes per game. I hope he pans out to be a good checking centre.
How are the centres on the faceoff dot?

That's something that the AHL doesn't keep track of, unfortunately. They just don't have the resources or staff to do so.
I can say though that Ben Street and Blair Jones by far the most superior faceoff guys on the team. Reinhart is rather average in the faceoff dot, as is Walter.

Street and Jones both had solid face off numbers in the NHL too (small sample sizes), really can't believe that neither of them are up with the Flames.
I mean, is it really more beneficial for this organization to have Begin on the NHL roster as opposed to a much younger guy?
I don't get it.

Flames announce that Howse has been recalled from the Grizzlies.
What do you expect to see from him PMM? What was his game like earlier this year? Can he help the Heat get in the playoffs?

At this point he's clearly not going to pan out as a scoring forward, but do you think he has the capability to be a decent 3rd/4th line forward with some offensive upside? Let's not forget how Glencross started in the NHL.

Spoke with Brett Kulak this morning.
He's ecstatic to be playing/practicing with the Heat. He said he had an idea that he might end up with Abby at the end of the year, but hadn't heard anything until Monday, so he figured he wouldn't be joining the team.
He's a good guy though. Nice fella.

Just saw that Kulak's birthday is January 6 ... too bad he wasn't born a week earlier, he could have played in the AHL in the fall then. I know the feeling, having a January 11 birthday myself - when playing football and hockey in my youth, my friends always advanced to the older age groups one year ahead of me haha

That's pretty cool. Thanks for posting it.
I know this may not be possible, but if you ever catch up with him again could you ask if he has styled his game after a particular player?

WHL From Above has suggested he plays similar to Ryan Suter
http://whl-from-above.blogspot.ca/20...ett-kulak.html
The Hockey Writers compare him to Keith and Vlasic:
http://thehockeywriters.com/brett-ku...spect-profile/
The story seems to be pretty clear to me: he's a nice two-way, smooth skating, really intelligent, not overtly physical defender. He is better at defence, but has a growing offensive ceiling. The type of player I really don't think you can get enough of for pro teams.

Heat have signed Steven Siego
He's a 22-year-old rookie defenseman who played for Michigan Tech for four years.

Some quick quotes I got from Sven from this morning:
"You can play well and still lose, but it doesn’t help you. No one cares about that. [...] There's no excuses anymore."
"You can’t say after a game, ‘we played well, but we lost.’ We can’t do that now. We’ve got to win and that’s all that matters."
P.S. At morning practice, Sven bobbled a pass that flipped up in the air on him. Instead of settling it he just continued to use his stick to keep it in the air from the blue line to Taylor. He flipped it in the air and batted it in top shelf on Danny. Blew my mind! Everyone's jaws dropped I'm pretty sure.

Heat down 3-0 to the ice hogs. Burst pulled for Taylor after the third goal. Two former Flames' helping the ice hogs. Montador scored the 3rd goal and Kasrlsson is shutting the door. Heat look like they started strong with 12 shots in the first but no result on the scoreboard.

Bancks and Nemisz get the Heat within two, now 4-2 ice hogs. Good to see Nemisz get a goal. Heat out shooting the ice hogs 27-17 after 40 minutes.

5-2 final. Season story seems to continue for this team effort and chances are there but lack finish. 35 shots and only 2 goals against Karlsson.
I was only following the game on twitter and the AHL website

Did not play tonight and my guess he'all get at least a week's worth of practice time before seeing any game time unless we see some injuries.
