The preliminary rosters for Gold Cup were submitted this past weekend. I'm wondering if the news on Davies' citizenship has delayed the announcement from the CSA. Have to think he's on the roster; he's probably a late game sub on the wing for someone like Arfield, Hoilett or Akindele.

I'm pleasantly surprised how quickly the Gold Cup is coming up. I've put the first round of fixtures into my calendar.
TSN has the rights to the Gold Cup this year, and are committed to carrying Canada's matches (obviously), the semi-finals, and the final. The press release doesn't specifically say that any of the other matches will be broadcast, but I hope they'll have some of the other matches on as well. They do have 5 channels, after all.

Really nice video from the Whitecaps about Alphonso's journey to becoming a Canadian as a refugee from Liberia. His parents seem absolutely lovely and he comes across as a great kid.

I just looked at the draw. How the hell do we keep drawing these non-FIFA teams? With French Guiana in our group we may only have two games where we can cap tie players and gain massive amounts of points in the FIFA rankings. Used to be we'd get Martinique every time.

Group B is terrible, but Group C is even harder than ours so it could be worse. French Guiana is another one of those ringer teams like Curacao loaded with guys from the French leagues. Not as good as Curacao though, only really look to have 4 or 5 real solid guys, if the CMNT can't pull that game out it will be round robin and done.
Wonder if Galvis is actually any good, hasn't played in the 1st team yet in Columbia. It is lame that Toronto doesn't get a game or two again this time.
Bottom line though from my perspective is only three important things:
- enjoy a couple games for the CMNT, results are not as important as the WCQs but would be nice. Any kind of run is a bonus, especially with no Tiba.
- Captie Davies and Cordova.
- Captie Davies and Cordova
Too bad Tabla isn't there. Drogba is a dbag.

Will be interesting to see what happens to Cordova, as he just signed with a club in the Chilean Primera Division a few weeks ago after 4 years in Primera B. He played RB with the U-23's back in May. He was one of the more promising players in that camp, one which had a lot of players who didn't look that great.
Given that Canada hasn't had a proper RB since Stalteri, I think Cordova may be able to walk into a starting role there right now. Ledgerwood has filled in well but is 32 and on the decline. Henry is simply not a RB and Ouimette is just not that good in general. Aird is better on the wing. Kadin Chung and Zachary Brault-Guillard are both decent at the U-20 level but they have a few years to go before challenging for a similar spot.

Canada got the win against Curacao tonight. Davies played most of the second half and I thought he looked great. Couple great chances and for a 16 year old he didn't look out of place at all.
Why no Atiba Hutchinson though?

I believe in the Jays.

Pretty good showing. I like that we actually played aggressive and pushed up the pitch. Really nice finish on the game winner.

Have to say, the friendly against Curacao does not inspire confidence in this team for Gold Cup. Think the old guard (Bernier, Johnson, de Jong) have to GTFO for the team to improve, which is unfortunate because they are all great for their clubs.
Davies is a game changer though. Game turned on a dime when he came on.

Damn, I remember attending a U-20 game where Will Johnson was the captain. Makes me feel old that he's "old guard" now.

GD Larin. What an idiot.
Too bad about Akindele, he was looking pretty good a couple years ago.

Davies... What a full debut. Why the hell is crepeau the 2nd choice when he doesn't even play club soccer regularly? Should be Leutwiler imo
