Right, but it does say illness with Howard and not with Stone

He's legit depth and versatility for a playoff run who can play up and down the lines, pk and pp.
Not sure where we need a glaringly clear upgrade on any forward lines. 3rd and 4th lines are solid, and can say we need someone more able to pot goals on the second line instead of Frolik, but nothing is glaring.
Stone only in the mix for the Flames becuase he's available and players like that aren't often available, and this may be a one shot to land him, and, finally, there has to be some mutual interest from the Stone party to have the Flames consistently linked.

I’ll be honest that I don’t know much about Stone. But my question is, if the Flames are seriously considering him and potentially signing him long term, than how does he compare to Taylor Hall? Because I see Calgary boy Taylor Hall on next years free agent list and in my opinion, I’d rather have cap space open to potentially sign him.

It looks like Kylington May just be injured and not traded. https://twitter.com/fan960steinberg/...585758720?s=21
I think I’d rather just trade the 1st and/or lesser picks and/or lesser prospects (than, for example, Dube or Kylington) for Hayes, Zuccarello, or Nyquist (etc.) depending on the value of who we are getting back.

It's tempting, but between Taylor Hall and a right shooting RW version of Patrice Bergeron, which would you rather have?

does anyone know if adding a 3 zone player who would be the 4th highest scoring forward on the roster is a clear upgrade?

I agree he is an upgrade. But the guy has had one 20 goal season in his NHL career. He isn't going to make the difference of us beating the Sharks or not beating them. I guess I'd need to know who the prospect is. Any of our d-men or Dube and I'm a hard pass.

Kylington isnt a 1st pairing guy....he plays very limited minutes, usually on the 3rd pairing.
Additionally he is a LHD, he won't be playing beside Gio.
If Brodie is dealt, then i think the D looks something like this for a couple years
Giordano................. Andersson
Hanifin...................Hamonic
Valimaki/Kylington....Stone
Or even Kylington dealt for a different young RHD, leaving Stone the 7th dman.

Wouldn't be the fourth leading scorer. But I take your point. Like I said, The ask is pretty high IMO. Who is the top prospect you'd be prepared to give along with the pick for him?

So now that the market has been set for the big fish (Matt Duchene) would you accept the following trade if you where Treliving?
To Calgary:
- Mark Stone
To Ottawa:
- 2019 First Round Pick
- 2020 Conditional First Round Pick (Conditional on Stone Resigning)
- any two of (Quine/Lomberg/Foo/Lazar/Mangiapane)
I would do that trade easily. But if you have to include a prospect like Dube/Valimaki/Kylington for a l likely rental I would pass.

zucc has 2 more points than backlund in 10 less games played.
I wouldn't trade a prospect, I'd do an overabundance of picks to avoid having to deal a prospect.
2nd + 5th round pick for zucc is a much better deal than a 3rd + 5th for Michael Stone.

Remember, that gets you an unsigned Mark Stone. If he was signed and traded, you can bet we have to include one of Dube/Valimaki/Kylington. And probably still a 1st or 2nd next year.

I agree. You pull the trigger if that gets it done. I doubt it does though. reports from all the talking heads on twitter is that the ask is pretty big still.
