Which is why the Flames will favour young guys that can step into the lineup, vs just picks.
If they keep adding guys that contribute to positive play, like Zary and Pospisil are, that will keep guys engaged, and wanting to stay.

If that happens, then…good. Flames would get a lot for Andersson if he didn’t want to be here - and if he doesn’t want to be a key cog in building something here, then he shouldn’t be here.

It all depends on the extent to the rebuild/retool/reset. I don’t think the strip it to the studs group is going to get what they want. I could see this being considered a bit of a lost season and they will move 3 of their top 5 Dmen and number 1 center with the hopes of adding young players, and draft picks. They likely will have a pick in the top 10 and possibly 2 other draft picks in the first round. They may also have assets to pull off a Hamilton style move where they acquire a young RFA and have the flexibility to give that individual a big money deal and run a much younger team next year with the hopes of competing for a playoff spot.
If Andersson does want out he likely fetches the biggest haul. The worst thing this team can do is hold onto or extend their group of free agents.

I think you are exactly right. I'd bet that Conroy and Iginla have been able to convince ownership that the team is not currently a threat to win anything and that they need star power. They have a bunch of UFAs that aren't interested in re-signing anyway (at least without a premium price tag) and they already have a few young players that are looking good and helping generate interest in the team.
Connor Bedard is selling out arenas around the league and Connor Zary has more people excited about the Flames than $10.5M Huberdeau or $9+M demanding Lindholm. The Flames were chosen for ZERO US nationally televised games this season, that's gotta be humiliating for the owners... nobody else even wants to watch their team play. It is at least worth a shot to bottom out this year and see if they can get lucky and add a superstar. Even if they don't, it's clear the fans are going to have patience for the short term if they see new blood and there is enough reason for fans to stay optimistic .
I have no doubt that ownership will expect the team to be pushing for the playoffs again next season and I wouldn't be surprised if the GM brought in Duclair and some UFA defensemen to do it. I personally wouldn't that approach at all. This year I think we will see them mimic Nashville from last year and to compile some assets for a retool.

Conroy is hot on the trail of Anton Lundell. Multiple phone calls have taken place this past week. He’s falling out of favourite in FLA and they’re in win now mode. I am unsure if a deal can be made but Conroy is very interested and has let it be known.
LA kings have been tracking the flames for a few weeks, expect an increased work load on Vladar over the next couple of weeks. Kings are very interested in improving their goaltending and it’s not because Talbot is playing poorly but they want to lock their window down in that position, teams like a sense of certainty in that position. Markstrom fits the bill. With retention it could be a very good spot for both player and teams.

I think a signed Hanifin nets you Lundell + . Flames would have to take back a contract.

Lindy for lundell?
Do you think we could charge extra for retention?

If Florida is all in I wonder if a Lindholm for Lundell deal makes sense? Florida with Barkov-Lindholm-Bennett would be a formidable group down the middle. The Flames add a young player who could breakout in a similar fashion to Lindholm when they acquired him 5 and a half years ago

I don’t think they have a bad contract requirement there, my opinion tho.
Their backend does indeed need to be rebuilt on the LHD side of things. Noah has been connected to Florida in the past but I haven’t herd specifically on this specific report. He’s best buddy’s with Tkachuk.
It would have to include a extension.

Doubt an extension would an issue in Florida.

I want so badly for a Lundell to Flames trade to become reality.
Thats the sweetest sweet spot for a youth movement/Re-Tool.

Lindell would be a nice piece to add. I haven’t been a fan of hearing they want NHLers over picks like the Sharangovich deal but that move I would support.

Lundell's PPG has declined each season - does that worry no one?

Is Lundell just underutilized in Florida? His production isn't as great as I expected given what I remember from his rookie year.

Somewhat but not enough to be a red flag. Don't think Floridas forward depth rewards his 3rd line C spot much does it?
