What was the biggest 3 factors in this realization?

Everything else aside, I just don't understand the silence from either party. The preseason is over, the regular season starts in 5 days, and we're going into a long weekend in complete silence as to what the contract status of our best player is?

I for 1 am glad our gm and management team don't use the media to negotiate.

I'm not talking about negotiating in public. I'm talking about the complete opposite of whatever this is. This sitting here knowing absolutely nothing about whether or not the best player in our organization is going to be on the roster when we open the season two business days from today.

I don't know what I'm looking to hear or how I want to hear it, but complete radio silence is definitely not it.

Classic Bettman - Winnipeg story:

Years ago before the NHL relocated back to Winnipeg I was at a luncheon with Gary Bettman here in Calgary and during the Q&A this guy gets up and asks: "Mr. Bettman, I am from Winnipeg and I lived there for 20 years and I want to know when the NHL will be moving back to Winnipeg?".

Without missing a beat Bettman replies: "Oh ya, when are you moving back?!...." Room erupted in laughter.

Default McKenzie: Gaudreau & Flames are closing gap, but it's still a considerable gap.

both sides have said on multiple occasions that they are confident that a deal will get done.

People are just panicking, and I get it but I have zero doubt that a long term deal will get done in short order.

Yeah that's a fair point.

It's weird how I don't remember being this frustrated during the Iginla holdouts. Maybe I'm just getting old.

What is the Kucherov situation? I haven't read a thing about what's happening in Tampa.

I think it's a different situation. There is always going to be a little fear lingering in regards to the American kid wanting to play closers to home.

Iginla wasn't leaving to be close to home and was just looking for a better deal.

Johnny is probably the same, but ^^^ it lingers...

Just take your geritol, and enjoy your prune jiuce. It'll all be done and over soon enough. Don't get your blood pressure up there Gramps.

(hahahah, said as if I'm not just as geriatric)

Same as Johnny, but I believe he's threatening to go to KHL. Don't quote me on that tho.

Maybe contract was signed but Johnny Gaudreau was so jittery that he signed Johnny Hockey. BT told him to try again and he signed Johnny Hockey TM. BT told him to try one last time and he signed Johnny Gaudreau...and now contract is locked and he can only retry in 48 hours as contract was under John Gaudreau!

and this is why nothing is happening since yesterday...voila!

Happy long weekend to all

Lots of evidence would point the contrary to be honest. Players looking to get out of Calgary, has come up less in Calgary's 30 plus year existence in the NHL then what has come up in Winnipeg since they got their team back just a few short years ago.

Again personal preference, but the two cities aren't even comparable tbh.

He's practicing in Russia (which shouldn't be scary but it is because Russia) and they have no cap space to give him even a lowball deal. I think someone (may have been mckenzie but I can't find the tweet) reported yesterday that there hasn't been any talks at all for a while.

Surprisingly it took my wife about ten days to say she'd never move back. I think that made my life a lot easier.

I'm in Sherwood Park which I don't mind. I hate the city tho! Filthy, ugly, and all around gross city.

I grew up in Sherwood Park. 21 years there. Dreaded moving to Calgary but after living there a short time I knew I was home. 18 years later after losing my job I had to come to this dump, Winnipeg. It's been two years and I'd give anything to be back home. There is little to like about this city.
