Big signing! Clearly one of the Riders' best out there this season and in the CFL.

Jason Maas continues to thinks he's bigger than the league. D-bag. Can't wait to see them lose in Hamilton next week.

Guess I shouldn't be so hard him on since he had to make his wife get a part time job to pay for the fine...

Franklin is shredding out there. He's going to earn himself a big contract in February.

Who needs Maas on a live mic, I'd rather listen to an awesome Duane Forde rant (lol)

The league has to suspend Maas for his latest disobedience act. Everyone had to do it you rat.

Interesting....

@HerbZurkowsky1:

Jim Popp was supposed to meet the media today. Now, it'll be tomorrow with #Als' president Mark Weightman. Must be big news.

Speculation in Montreal is Popp is out after 20 yrs. Jim Barkers future also in question.

Quote:
In Montreal, there is speculation that general manager Jim Popp is on his way out after 20 years at the helm of the Alouettes. The Als have missed the playoffs for the past two seasons and the team has run through five head coaches since Marc Trestman left after the 2012 season – including Popp for two interim stints. The quarterback situation has been unsettled since Anthony Calvillo retired and the latest candidate – Vernon Adams, who won his three starts this season – cost the team a first-round pick in the 2017 CFL draft. Adams may prove to be worth the investment
Quote:
Many believe the leading candidate for the general manager job in Montreal is none other than former Edmonton Eskimos head coach and general manager Danny Maciocia, who is currently running the football program at the University of Montreal. Maciocia has a CFL track record, a high profile in Montreal and speaks both official languages – something the Alouettes learned the value of when they hired Chapdelaine and sold out the following week.
Quote:
Maciocia could then look to promote long-time defensive coordinator Noel Thorpe as head coach as the two worked together in both Edmonton and at the University of Montreal. It’s also possible that ownership would push Maciocia to keep Chapdelaine]
Quote:
It may be already happening: there are rumours that Barker has lost the ability to make football-related decisions without checking with senior management and ownership. The desperate trade for quarterback Drew Willy, which cost the team a first-round pick and a promising young defensive back, was particularly disastrous at the current time.
Quote:
If both Barker and Milanovich are let go, there’s talk that Trestman could be a candidate for a dual role in the Big Smoke. He’d be the big name and proven winner that the Argonauts could sell as a move in the right direction. Otherwise, the double blue could be looking at bringing back a usual suspect – say Eric Tillman even Popp if he’s done in Montreal – or take a chance on one of the many young guns around the league (Brock Sunderland, the assistant general manager in Ottawa, is often the top name among this set.)
Quote:
If Barker stays, it could be Milanovich that pays the price: he frequently took responsibility for the team’s performance down the stretch. If that’s the case, a leading candidate to replace him would be current Hamilton defensive coordinator Orlondo Steinauer, his contract with the Ticats expires after the season.

Trading for Willy for a talented young CB and what is now the 1st overall pick should be enough to get you fired. Willy wont even be in the CFL much longer, nm be a backup

The CFL needs to drop the divisions and just rank all the teams. The playoffs should be:
-Calgary and BC with byes
-Hamilton @ Winnipeg
-Ottawa @ Edmonton

Also, are they ever going to add a 10th team? It would make the schedule so much better.

Agreed. And go back to a 16 game regular season and then give 2 weeks between the semis and the Grey Cup - to allow for organization (hectic for sure but whatever) and have the Grey Cup played in the home stadium of the finalist with the best regular season record.

A 16 game schedule would be great. Home and away against every team. If they ever added a 10th team then they could go back to 18 games.

The current system has screwed over Calgary, BC and Winnipeg and will likely result in a close Western final and blow out Grey Cup.
-The Stamps have the best record yet will have a much tougher semi matchup than the RedBlacks
-BC gets rewarded for having the 2nd best record by getting to face the 3rd best team and then possibly the best team in the semi
-Winnipeg gets rewarded for finishing 3rd overall by not getting a home game and having to travel to the 2nd best team.

The CFL can be pretty bush league at times and their silly playoff format does nothing to help.

hanging on to the always injured Ricky Ray and letting Zach Collaros then Trevor Harris for nothing will also get a GM fired. Next season Ray will probably be gone and they'll be stuck with Drew Willy.

As far as Alouettes is concerned, I think it is about time they get rid of Jim Popp. He's been nothing but a joke ever since Calvillo left. Hire a HC then fire him after a few games. Put himself as a HC and on and on... I am not a fan of Chapdelaine as I think he is such a boring coach but he gets the job done since he became an interim coach with young QBs.

And on the topic of playoff format - i'd also like to see only 4 teams make the playoffs - semis and then the Grey Cup. The prize for the best regular season record is the entitlement to play at home for both rounds.

CFL divisional all-stars have been announced, Bo Levi is part of 9 Stamps that were named West division all-stars.
