Stupid as it is, it is still banned, and WADA doesn't F around. They are going to go out of their way to make an example of Sharapova.

Monfils says merci to Jiri Vesely for taking out Novak and then dispatches Vesely in straight sets (6-1, 6-2)

Gael is having a strong year so far. Would love to see him win the French Open at home.

Oh man my buddy left to Italy last week and I guess he's going to Monaco tomorrow to watch the tennis. Gets to see:

Roanic v. Murray,
Nadal v. Wawrinka
Federer v. Tsonga
Monfils v. Granollers

So jealous

Ugh, this is a rout, Milos can't get a first serve in and Murray is playing great. Going back to bed.

Big chance for Roger to add one of the Masters he hasn't won yet with Novak out. Hopefully he cashes it in.

I think those two previous matches against Cuevas and Dzumhur drained Milos, he had nothing left in the tank against Murray. It also didn't help that Murray played very well today.

Fed and Tsonga to a third set (Jo-Willy won the second set 6-2 after Roger took the opening set 6-3)

Tsonga takes it 7-5 in set 3 (broke Fed at 5-5)

tall ask for the old guy playing his first tournament 3 months after knee surgery. Rafa seems to have regained a lot of his confidence so I don't know if a Monte Carlo win was possible in Nole's absence anyways.

I think he's finally showing up in Toronto this year though? at least that's what they're pushing with all the Rogers Cup commercials.

Nadal rules in Monte Carlo again, although it was a 2 hour and 46 minute battle on the clay with Monfils.

I'm glad for Nadal. I would've been okay with either winning, but hopefully this give Nadal some continued momentum during the clay season.

There's not much standing in his way to winning back to back tournaments with a ridiculously weak field in Barcelona right now. Nishikori has all but sauntered to the semis, never facing anyone dangerous....even as far as clay court players are concerned.

Hopefully the time off for many of the top seeds does them some good moving towards the open....outside of Rafa none of them have looked particularly comfortable on the clay and it's certainly not making for very intriguing tennis to watch right now.

As you predicted, it's going to be a Nadal / Nishikori final in Barcelona.
