Dang, I feel bad to admit it, but I forgot about Mickey. That guy's numbers were great, plus he was a 6'2" centerman. Could've became something special for the Flames. RIP Mickey.

He was projecting to become a Lance Bouma, albeit a bigger one with possibly more leadership skills (if that's possible).
Has Culkin changed up his game? Insane start and then much mych slower point wise. The points stopped coming in well before the NHL lockout ended, so it's not something as simple as his points going through Grigorenko.
Obviously points aren't everything, but since we can't see his games, there's not much else to go on

I don't have too much insight but I'm fairly sure the whole Remparts team has really slowed down since their crazy start of the year. Grigs left for the WJC in early December as well let's not forgot, but I'm not entirely sure when Culkins point totals started to drop. I do know from seeing what Remparts fans had to say a few weeks back, that they have said Culkin has been there best defenseman.

I wonder if they'll keep him in the Q for another year? He'd be AHL eligible in the fall due to his December birthday.
Probably depends on how he and the Flames feel.
The Flames only have six defenders (at all) signed for 2013-14 (Bouwmeester, Giordano, Wideman, Sarich, Smith and Martin) and another four who will be RFas (Lamb, Brodie, Breen and Butler).
Wotherspoon, Culkin and Ramage can all turn pro next season.

Just for fun, here's what I'd like to see:
- Re-sign Brodie. Give him whatever he wants because he is our #1 D-man of the future.
- Sign Lamb to a one-year, two-way league minimum because as of late you can tell he's starting to get used to the pro game. Give him one more year in the AHL to prove himself.
- Re-sign Breen to a two-year, two-way deal and hope and pray that he wins that #6 job with the Flames. I feel he's almost capable of that role right now.
- Cut ties with Butler.
- Let Culkin stay another year in Quebec. Let him be the leader on the team and rack up the points.
- Sign Wotherspoon to an ELC and let him play full-time with the Heat.
- Either sign Ramage to an ELC or, if Feaster doesn't want to do that, sign him to a PTO and see what he can do with the Heat.

I would do things a bit different. I would also like to see more "developmental" defenseman on the Heat next year.
- Derek Smith --> Waive and demote him.
- TJ Brodie --> Sign to a 2 years deal, this should keep the cap hit a bit lower and give the Flames a better idea where his ceiling is before signing him long term.
- Chris Butler --> Sign to a 1 year deal, he should be affordable still and as a 5/6 he is an decent asset.
- Chris Breen --> Sign for 1 year and give him the #7 spot.
- Brady Lamb --> What you said.
- Ryan Culkin --> Sign to an ELC and let him start developing his offensive game at the pro level.
- Tyler Wotherspoon --> Sign to an ELC to play in Abbotsford.
- John Ramage --> Sign to an ELC to play in Abbotsford.
- Joe Piskula --> Sign to an AHL contract.
NHL Defensemen:
Bouwmeester/Giordano
Brodie/Wideman
Butler/Sarich/Breen (rotate between them)
AHL Defensemen:
Piskula/Smith
Wotherspoon/Lamb
Ramage/Culkin
Martin
