Holy crap.
Jason Frasor and Zach Stewart to Chicago for Jackson and Teahan.
I liked this deal before I knew it was Zach Stewart out the door.

Haven't seen confirmation, but that has to be it.

The first deal looks pretty bad for the Jays, but if the Rasmus deal is only for Jackson that is a really good deal for the Jays and Mozeliak should be fired immediately.

There will be more from the Jays to get Rasmus. Sucks that they have to eat Teahan's massive contract for a guy who does less than Aaron Hill.

Teahan is supposedly going back to St.Louis

it seems to be more than a rumor
Ken Rosenthal is saying it's 99% done, Jon Heyman is saying the same
it's an absolute steal for the Blue Jays
Rasmus is a 5 tool guy and plays excellent CF, which lets them move Snider to a corner spot

That doesn't make much sense.
But neither does trading Rasmus for Jackson.

If they can flip Teahan too, I love it.

I know what Rasmus brings (and I wouldn't be so quick with the 5 tools until you watch him attempt to hit for average) and agree that if it is the White Sox return than that is a good deal, but I think the first deal pretty much negates that.
What I don't understand if it is basically ending up as a 3 team deal than why not take the much better package that went to the White Sox.
Hopefully there is something more as although I am happy that Rasmus is gone would have expected something much more in return than Teahen/Jackson.

Assuming that the Jackson/Rzepczynski/Dotel for Rasmus deal is done,at year's end,STL will have a lefty reliever/draft pick for Colby Rasmus

Don't like the return for Rasmus, not sure if it was possible but why not take the Fraser/Stewart package which is much better than what they got back.

Rasmus has been somewhat unlucky this year with his BABIP, he doesn't strike out a lot, and La Russa absolutely hates him which can't help
I think he can easily be a 25 hr, 15 steal, .280 hitter who plays elite center field defense
to get that for Jason Frasor (a good reliever but still the most replaceable position in baseball) and Zach Stewart (who BA and Keith Law both think doesn't miss enough bats to start and is likely a reliever as well)
it's a steal for the jays
the Cards need a starter as well, but they should have gotten more for Rasmus. I do think they get the better end of the deal than the white sox
Jackson in the NL can be a 2

I think that Frasor/Stewart is a better package than Jackson/Rzy/Dotel.
I think that Frasor/Stewart is fine for Rasmus who is a big problem in the Cards clubhouse and not because of La Russa but because he is a enormous jerk.
I would have liked to see something better for Rasmus but at the end of the day am glad that he is gone and think that the Cards are a better team with him not on it.
Edit: Rasmus does strike out a lot.

The hardest part to swallow for Cardinals fans: The impetus behind the Colby Rasmus trade, Tony La Russa, may not even be back next season.

A 24-year-old CF who OPS+'d 133 last year just got traded for a FA-pitcher-to-be, a decent RH reliever and a LOOGY. Am I missing something?
