Lebrun: Hearing that the Blue Jackets could be getting a first-round pick if a David Savard trade to Tampa gets concluded... trade isn't done yet.
Wonder if it's something like Johnson and a 1st?

Rittich, Bennett and Ryan could move as Flames embark on new chapter

Centre Derek Ryan would also be an attractive piece for a contender. Ryan anchors the North Division’s best penalty-kill unit. Among the 171 NHLers with 100 faceoffs taken, he’s ninth in winning percentage (57.3) and according to Natural Stat Trick, in a limited sample size against Connor McDavid and Auston Matthews, Ryan has been on the positive side of possession numbers.

Flames have a very unexpectedly brutal season, yet as the deadline approaches they have nothing of value to sell.
LOL
That is so....."Flames" of the Flames.
Probably end up picking high in the draft this year too, or even win the lottery....and draft the D version of Sam Bennett. Because Flames.

Have him skate shifts with veteran Chris Tanev.

It's such a perfect storm, it isn't even funny. Expansion draft, quarantine rules, and the flat cap all causing complication for making transactions. Plus way more teams wanting to sell than buy.
Oh, and apparently no huge benefit this year to draft in the top 5 because it's a weak draft with lots of parity in the first round, and scouts haven't been able to do a lot. There is also the added risk that the 1st round is loaded with NCAA players who aren't close to being NHL ready, so should not be signed for a couple of years. Not usually a risk if you sign the player quickly, but it doesn't seem like any of them should be.
This will be the year the Flames win the lottery and draft 1st overall. If they do, just trade it for picks next year... seriously.

Lebrun reporting the Canes holding Fleury out lineup. This is a bit if a surprise. Not long ago it was him and Hanifin that looked like their future on D

Wouldn’t mind Fleury and another decent piece for Gio. Reunite Gio and Hamilton

How weird to be criticizing a promising 24 year old dman who has shown top pairing potential (and probably top 4 at worst) and he's in his first year of a six year deal.

He is currently probably somewhere around the 100-120th best dman in the league
I suspect he has a similar market to that of Nikita Zaitsev when the Leafs moved him to Ottawa with Connor Brown for cap flexibility and not much else. Rasmus may have slightly higher value because he is a right shot dman, but nobody is giving up anything of value for that contract and the player he currently looks like he is and will project to be.

We can agree to disagree the.
Anderson still has tons of potential. He’ll likely eventually give surplus value to that contract.
Much like Lindholm and Hanafin has.

Yea, he is just having a bad year, along with all the others. The contract is fine.

I remember people used to complain about Brodie too, when he was on a similar contract. His performance exceeded his salary most years IMO.

Florida appears to be favourites (as per Sportsnet) to get newly released Free Agent Gusev. Makes sense that they got a D then.

I don't think we would get value if we traded this year's pick, but if we could, I wouldn't be opposed to trading it-but there are a few really good Centers in the top of this draft, and it would be great for us to grab one of them. People are really underrating the offense of Beniers and Johnson, and though you may have to wait a year or two for those guys, it would be worth it.

It has happened numerous times with Hanifin , since he was acquired , and he is younger than Andersson.
Patience is a virtue, especially with young D.
