I finally watched Timecop with JCVD, such a great 90s action flick. Certain scenes looked like they were filmed at Eau Claire but it was actually Vancouver. Basically the premise is time travel has been invented and a police force is tasked with ensuring people don't go back in time and change history. Fun drinking game, everytime JCVD does the splits take a drink. This might be my favorite Van Damme film, either this or Sudden Death.

I believe Eau Claire was designed with references to Granville Market in Vancouver, so maybe that's the similarity.

Friendship is absurdly hilarious. You have to be a fan of Tim Robinson's humour as it's basically a feature length ITYSL sketch.
I'm glad I found him because he's the only comedy that fits me perfect. He also sells food.

Mickey 17 wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t particularly good. I did not enjoy Mark Ruffalo’s awful Trump impression. It felt like a polished Terry Gilliam movie. But less weird. It explored some interesting themes and Robert Pattinson was entertaining. Otherwise I found it pretty forgettable.

I saw Sinners without knowing anything going in except it took place in the 30’s and was supposed to be good.
Holy cow. What film.
Try to go in cold if you can.

Saw it tonight, agreed, it was about 20 mins to long but otherwise still a lot of fun overall.

I won't spoil it but he does more in that stunt sequence than just hang off a plane, I can't wait for the makings of that stunt, the guy is certifiably crazy.

It's not like I expected a lot. I was aiming for Beekeeper-levels and with David Ayer directing/writing, I thought it would be an entertaining beat-em-up movie while I'm on my phone half the time.
Even when Ayer makes a bad movie, there's an element of entertainment to it, but this is one of the worst movies I've seen in recent memory.
It's a notch above Steven Segal territory with a plot that can only have been written by AI. It was so bad I had to google if it was the right David Ayer and not some Bill Murray/Joel Cohen/Garfield confusion.
No matter your thoughts on David Ayer as a director, I cannot believe he made this movie. I have a conspiracy theory that these directors (like Ridley Scott with Gladiator 2) are paid gobs of money to show up on set to 'direct' for a couple days while some poor hack does the rest of the work.
A solid 0.1/5.

Watched it last night and I actually thought it wasn't that bad. With a Statham film, you know exactly what you are going to get and this film had it. Could also be because the russians were all dressed like giant doofuses and seeing them get beat down was pretty satisfying.

Wrong.
I went with a group of six buddies yesterday. First time we've all hit a movie together in probably 20 years. We all love Tim Robinson. Like, we've stayed up into the wee hours on party weekends laughing our heads off watching ITYSL. We quote the sketches. At our xmas gift exchange there were Tim Robinson gifts. I currently have a plastic ITYSL Tim Robinson on a zipline that cruises across my garage door every time I open or close the garage that my friend had made and gave me. I saw the Friendship trailer a million times. Tim Robinson rules.
Friendship was super mid. Highest rating a friend gave it was 7.5. I gave it a 6.5 and that was super generous because I was in a good mood being with my crew at a movie like we used to do.
It is not hilarious. The theater chuckled now and again. Mostly superfans like us just laughing when we'd look at Tim's face.
It's notable this wasn't written by Robinson. It's not near the quality or the quirkiness of an ITYSL sketch. Yes, it has similar vibes to one at times due to what Robinson brings to the table, but it is not a Robinson work, really.
Prepare yourself for absolute disappointment. The trailer is all the best parts.

Lol! Pretty good review.
I generally hate stupid comedies, but they can be done in an entertaining manner and I thought Cocaine Bear walked that line rather well.

Yeah that one musical number in Sinners was an all-time great.
Simply captivating. Never seen anything like that in a movie.

There's a lot of bad dialogue and bad acting, the script is a basically a premise+location, there's too many characters, etc etc.
But I freely admit that sometimes a movie being kinda bad is exactly what makes it enjoyable, as long as it's unpredictable enough that I don't get bored, and doesn't overstay its welcome.

For those that only go to movies to chauffer/accompany your ungrateful kids, I saw Lilo and Stitch this weekend. It is a live action remake of a Disney "classic" I don't really remember. It is exactly what you might expect from Disney. Very good production, special effects were actually pretty good, with Stitch rendered in such a way to be believable. Acting pretty solid as well. Kids seemed to really enjoy it. For adults, I think tolerable, but man, they lay on the schlocky, oversentimentality on so thick in these things, I feel I need to take shower. Nuance, seems to be dead.

Watching league of ungentleman warfare. Why do people like this? It’s like an unbelievably crappy version of Inglorious Basterds. Just garbage.
