No one's tapped into the lucrative pet demographic yet.

I get pissed when my cat sleeps on my laptop keyboard, I might rage if I found them clawing at a nice new iPad touch.

Watch someone else try this and their cat's claws pop out and it's oh no!!!

Damnit, my love for cats and my love for playing music (two of my favorite things in the world) are combining into the perfect storm of overcoming my utter hatred of the ipad!!! ARRRGH!!! (I really want to try that piano software right now)

I would be shocked if a cat's claw could scratch the glass.

Cat's claws can cut diamonds. True story.

One swipe from a cat's claws might not be noticable, but if the cat has access to it, and was regularly scratching at the glass, after a while, it would definitely start becoming noticable.

If paper towel can scratch eyeglasses, than a cats claws can scratch an iPad. I don't use paper towel (or any paper product) on my glasses any more, because it does scratch.

There are some notable upsides to this:
  • Hopefully apps like dropbox can update and fix the problem of getting documents on and off the device easily
  • The app store will have an extra month of growth, so our day 1 experience will be quite a bit cooler
  • One more month to save up for apps and accessories
  • With the US getting more time we'll be able to see reviews of the 3g vs. the wifi which should help for fence sitters like myself
  • I'd like to see a few more cases released ... buying a case is a day 1 purchase for me, so if I could have a few more options I'd be pleased.
I'm obviously grasping at straws here for positives, but there are some legit bonuses. At least we also have confirmation of the ability to preorder. I had nightmares of sitting in a lineup with the unwashed masses.

Pretty sure we are all unwashed masses in Apple’s view.

This has probably been asked, but has the WiFi-3G version been released yet in the United States of America?

Nope, the apple website doesn't even have a firm date yet. Still says late April.

I guess I'll wait for that. Why have this awesome mobile device when you can't fully utilize its power without WiFi?

If you already pay $30/month in data for your phone you may be less inclined to take on another charge. I'm still going to pick one up, but I don't know how often I'll buy data for it. I'd love to go a week with the wifi version and see how many times I get into a situation where I really wished I had a connection.

Me too, that would be nice. Though go to any Starbucks and you'll wish you had 3G, unless you want to pay their WiFi fees (which are ridiculous).

Get a free Starbucks account and you can use their wifi for 2 hours for free per day.

If you're in a Starbucks for more than 2 hours a day you'll have issues I guess.

You may also be a pretentious Apple user if you're in a Starbucks for more the 2 hours a day.

Free Starbucks account? Where? I had no idea.

EDIT: Ahhh, there it is. Starbucks.com account. Two hours of free WiFi.

Thanks KTrain.
