Who do the Eagles have as their primary running back?

Is Westbrook is. At 34, stuff like this was bound to happen. Its too bad, I have always liked him, its too bad he plays on the Eagles

he is only 29...but there is little doubt he has taken a beating because of how many touches he gets. I think they said he was personally responsible for 24% of the entire offense last year. Thats a lot of hits for anyone to handle over the last few years.

He is probably looking at the end of his productivity. Pretty much every running back hits a wall at the age of 30. Some may get an extra year or two. But it is a very demanding position physically. He was a phenominal back though.

Yeah, Westbrook is pretty well heading into the decline of his career. He's had a pretty good career for a guy who was a 4th round pick and never projected to be more than a third down back.

The depth at RB for the Eagles is very thin. Really surprising when you think back to a few years ago when the backfield consisted of Staley, Westbrook, and a healthy Buckhalter. Then Andy Reid boycotted running the ball and the Eagles stopped drafting good RBs (Hunt, Moats...ugh).

That being said, I'm really excited to see what McCoy can do. He's so quick and agile, and I think anybody could run behind the Eagles' offensive line this year.

The Eagles should trade for Larry Johnson.

Niners just extended their LG Joe Staley until 2017!

I guess they are going for a stable O-Line (finally), but holy cow is that a long term for an NFL guy. Now if they could do the same thing for Patrick Willis (he and Staley were both taken in the 1st round of 2007) then we would be goin' somewhere.

That would help the Cheifs so much more than the Eagles.

That is why I'm suggesting it.

the big question mark on him is if he will be able to block well enough to play every down.

That I knew when I posted that.

They'll sign Edgerrin James for cheap, but I too, would like it if they traded for LJ!!

Same thing they knocked Westbrook for when he came out of college. I think he'll be fine in the long run, but he might struggle with blitz pick-ups in that division for the first year.

One of my little brother's high school teammates played with Westbrook at Villanova. His senior year he was finally able to lead the team in receiving, at Westbrook's (the running back) expense. He knew he was a star.

Two quick hits today:

Tony Dungy thinks the Bears took a big risk on Cutler, and questions Cutler's maturity

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4230086

And Westbrook has bone spurs removed but, much to my delight, should be ready by the first week of the season.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4234674

Apparently McCoy fell and sprained his wrist in practice yesterday and will be out for a week.

So he is becoming more like Westbrook than anyone could have imagined.

Oh how I hope Dungy is right.

I have never wanted to see a player fail so miserably as I do Cutler in Chicago.

Cutler being a hit or miss hangs a lot on the team surrounding him. McDaniels on the other hand is looking to be a flop before the team even took the field.

I guess it depends how close you think the team was last year. Its a flop if you think the team could have made the playoffs this year after the complete choke-job of last year.

For me, I think they are doing exactly what they need to. Blowing up the team and starting from scratch. This team has been mediocre for a while, they have just been lucky to be in a relatively easy division.

In 3 years I would rather have a 2-14 season the first year, if it means playoffs next, and playoff success after that rather than a bunch of 10-6 years where we are on the playoff wildcard bubble.

I would have drafted differently than they did but on the other hand I am not upset with how they drafted.

If people think that Cutler is a true "pro bowl" qb then he should make the other players around him better. He wont have any cop-out excuses this year as the Bears D should be better than the Broncos D was last year. then again the Lingerie bowl has a better defensive unit than the Broncos did last year. I will miss Cutlers arm strenght in Madden2010 but it is a small price to pay to get that cancer out of the team.

Why did they need to "blow up" that offense? The D sucked, but the offensive side of the bowl was very good. It doesn't make sense to blow up one of the most productive offenses in the league just because your D sucks. Not that any of it hurts my feelings.
