How many race laced sermons has Barak sat through in that twenty years? The answer is many.

How many race laced sermons has McClain sat through preached by Hagey or the other preacher who endorsed him? I don't know if he ever has sat through either man's sermons; Nor has McCain called either man his mentor.
Wow holy exaggeration their cowboy. I think the test would be if a black man could sit in on a KKK meeting or a white man could sit in Obama's church comfortably. I'd think I'd have no problem attending Obama's church if I had to attend a church and I probably wouldn't fall asleep either. Hagee's sermons may not be race related, I haven't watched him in a while but he isn't shy about peddling the hate either.

Like I said any reasonably smart politician doesn't believe most of the hocus pocus these preachers spout anyways.

I think you've been listening to the wrong radio station.

Thats the thing though, they're all involved with them, so its kinda tough to say that they don't 'believe' any of it.

Obama is obviously a religious person, and to me he never joined a church for political gain. 20 years ago he probably never even knew that one day he would be running for POTUS. I don't have a problem with that, or with the fact that he was going to church. Lots of people are going to church.

My problem is that Oprah denounced her membership to that exact church quite a while before Obama did. Obviously because she didn't like what Wright was preaching. We've learned that some of that stuff Wright was preaching was indeed racist rhetoric. Now, Obama claims to not have known about it, which is fine, but why throw his pastor under the bus then? Why distance himself from the church? 20 years is a long time, and he probably put a lot of time and effort into helping to build that church.

Just seems strange that he would push them away so fast after such a history together.

That's funny I listened to two of Wright's speeches and I can't remember anything that he said was racist. There were some angry thoughts and accusations but most of them were true and some of his conclusions were rather paranoid but growing up in a racist society, it's hard not to cut him some slack. What you see in race relations now is a far cry from the 60s when Wright and others were fighting for equality. I respect the man and his roots, it's mostly that he used very bad timing to spout off.

Delegate Update!

Total Delegates:

Clinton 1877
Obama 2051 (174 ahead)

Pledged Delegates:

Clinton 1586
Obama 1724 (138 ahead)

Superdelegates:

Clinton 291
Obama 327 (36 ahead)

Today the DNC resolved the issue of Michigan and Florida.

This leaves Obama still 174 delegates ahead. The new "finish line" is 2118 delegates. Obama is 67 delegates away. Clinton is 241 delegates away.

There are still contests in Puerto Rico, Montana, and South Dakota. After these three contests I believe Obama will be approximately 20-25 delegates away from the "finish line". Those will have to be made up by super delegates.

If nothing he said was racist, why did Obama distance himself from Wright and his church?

Maybe because he came across as a bit of a fool with his 60s ideology. It was a time of huge mistrust of the government, worse than now, what with the Kennedy assassinations and the lies concerning the the Viet Nam war. His "god damn America" for their foreign terrorism policy certainly didn't help nor did his blaming the US government for spreading AIDS to the black community. This argument has some legitimacy as at one time the Americans used blacks with purposely untreated Syphilis as guinea pigs. I don't classify these points as racist but they are divisive which is in direct opposition to Obama's campaign.

So? If his arguments were right, why did Obama throw him under the bus?

Some people have even suggested that Obama churched the church for political gain(I don't get it either)...and now he is leaving for political gain.

There's a ridiculous amount of difference between the racism of the Klan and the racism of Rev. Wright. It's silly to even consider comparing the two.

Black nationalism is ugly and low-brow, but it certainly doesn't have the sad legacy of intense violence and oppression that the Klan symbolizes.

Wow, she certainly has an interesting view on things...
For what it's worth, I agree, McCain will be the next President. As long as he doesn't pick a liability for VP, it will be his election to lose.

Whoa, since when?

You're the first person I've seen give McCain a chance.

Spoke of her and others having troubles getting tickets to meeting and discovering about 75% of the tickets were given to Obama supporters.

I stated a few weeks ago, that I thought that McCain had a very good chance at taking the white house, however all three candidates are seriously flawed, this is probably the weakest potential election class in a long time.

Maybe Ross Perot will finally become the president.

I think McCain has a very very good chance...but the presidential race hasnt really swung into full gear, so time will tell what laundry gets aired out.

But i do think some democrats will vote McCain over Obama

A lot of democrats will vote for McCain over Obama and a lot of republicans will stay home rather than vote for McCain. Hard to say which will have the most impact.

I think Obama's foreign polices will be his downfall.

I think Obama's economic policies will be his downfall. If people would actually bother to pay attention to them.

Not sure though....could be close, could be a landslide either way.
