Agreed on 100% of all of that. Shome’s energy and ability to turn with the ball has been really important, and for me he has to be first choice at the 6 now. Gutierrez has looked better than anyone else at the 8, but still has too many mistakes in his game. He can be a really good player if he can cut those errors down.
Henry has been great and deserves playing time. I’m sure he’ll share minutes at the 10 with Camargo and cover the wings as well.
Field has looked surprisingly good at CB, but we’ll look really strong there with Kobza coming back into the team now.
If we can stay healthy we should be able to put a good run of games together to finish the season.
It's funny, 3 weeks ago our attacking was dreadful and with Musse, Wahling and Henry and coming into the lineup in place of Brooks, Akio and Dias it's currently the strength of the squad.
I really don't know what our best midfield pairing is. Shome is in there for sure; IMO he is probably the best technical player on the squad and his versatility helps in a pinch. I've always seen him as more of an 8 in a double pivot but I don't know who you pair with him. I asked a few folks on Saturday what they think of Gutierrez and none of us are really sure. His signing was heavily praised. He hasn't been bad but I don't see the hype and thought he struggled on Saturday. Is Daley any better? Not sure as I haven't seen him as much this year. Trafford gives you a destroyer if you need it.
I don't rate Field at all but he has had a very solid run since giving up that OG against Forge. Don't mind him as depth but I would prefer Kobza at CB. Similar to Gutierrez, I don't know if Montgomery is valuable or not. Obviously Tommy doesn't rate him if Field is preferred to a healthy Montgomery.
I want to see Gutierrez and Trafford together more. I agree that Shome is more of an 8, and Gutierrez doesn't seem to do as well with the dual responsibilities of that role. Camargo is typically taking the spot that Gutierrez should thrive in more. Daly seems comfortable in a deep lying role, a great option off the bench to cover Trafford.
Shome has been asked to play in some uncomfortable spots this year, and while not always ideal, his versatility is super important when we don't have certain players available on any given day.
Both the league and Cavalry now averaging over 4000 per game for the season. Through 9 games last year Cavalry were averaging 3827, so they are actually up 5.7% over last year. Wasn't expecting that with the way the season started.
Hopefully this is Valor coming off of life support.
I really wonder at which attendance rate a team starts to break even. Obviously they also make some money from Advertising, though advertising is only as valuable as the amount of people who see it.
Have there been any visible changes since those Mexican guys bought York late last year? They’ve got their work cut out for them. Attendance is no doubt linked to both the location and the venue, so I can only imagine that addressing those must be a top priority.
I’m not sure what the answer is, but they can’t carry on like this.

The fact they are a top team in the league should help no?
It's tough to be a second tier team in a city. I think that when the league does grow it should stay away from the GTA.

That concerns me even more. Tied for 1st in the league, but average attendance still 50% less than the second-lowest in the league. People just don’t care.

Just to try and be positive, they have 6 home games remaining, and attendance normally trends up to finish a season. They may get close to touching 2k a game. Still, you have to imagine that the new owners recognize that they are hemorrhaging money.
