Woah. Hamilton and Leclerc just got DQd from race today for excessive plank wear.
In reading a bit more it sounds like the parc ferme rules need to be broken if a team is concerned. Which was after FP1. So the wear may have come from the sprint race.
I think the parc ferme rules need to be looked at. Not sure why teams shouldn't be able to adjust cars whenever they want provided they are always on compliance.
Sargeant was the big winner...lol. First F1 point.
I have a feeling the Vegas GP is going to suck. Cold temperatures, and a street circuit that looks not great. Doesn't feel like a recipe for a good race.

Yeah I feel the same. I wonder how the average Las Vegas citizen feels about it?

The cold temps are a concern. Who knows about the track. That’s something that’s history has proven is baseless speculation. Some of the most beloved pure racing circuits regularly produce garbage races. And the most manufactured circuits with no history produce amazing nail biters.
As for Vegas citizens, who cares? The strip isn’t for them. The whole town exists because of tourists. I’m sure if they had their choice, many things about Vegas would be different. Tourist cities often have a love hate with tourist attractions. If they didn’t want to live in a town that caters to tourists, they probably shouldn’t have moved to Vegas.

I don't think you are wrong, but where do the adjustments stop? Teams will very quickly adapt a bunch of trick parts just for quali.
Parc ferme regs have largely been unchanged since they were introduced which was before the budget cap.
Excessive plank wear is most affected by ride height. I guess they could mark the floors to make sure they are using the same one, but virtually impossible to police.
Simple, teams must keep all of the same parts on the car, but you can change/adjust them. Front/rear flaps, springs, etc. If a team wants to take a chance on adjusting setups for different conditions etc, let them. Teams will make mistakes and weather will change...it'll spice it up. I think they're only allowed to change front wing and tire pressures IIRC.
I also didnt think that planks needed to last an entire weekend. To me they should absolutely be allowed to change every session, but must be in compliance after each session.
I don't really like how the sprint weekend is setup. I think they should do an extended FP1 on Friday, then the sprint shootout. Sprint race Saturday morning and the end of parc firme. Then a 30 minute practice, and second parc firme for qualy. This keeps the sprint stuff together, and the race stuff together, with a small practice session to optimize the car if you got it wrong for the sprint.
They could also just do away with parc firme until Saturday qualy to give teams for opportunity to adjust.
Apparently they only checked the plank on the front 4 finishers, and 2/4 failed. Seems really weird to not check all finishers, though perhaps it's a bit more involved to check.

Just make Saturday morning Sprint Quali an open test session that also serves as quali. Basically how Quali was pre 2005. Parc Ferme at the end.
I was about to post a congrats to you for picking the entire podium slotted when I saw the news about the double DQ.
Can't say I'm personally disappointed given the benefit to me, but it's a bummer for you. I don't recall anyone successfully picking 1-2-3 yet this year?
