Since game 2 of the BoA this has been just one long nightmare. From losing 4 straight to the lottery ball dooshbags, to having phantom kicking motions called by crooked league officials, to our best two players abandoning us like we're plague riddled lepers I've reached the end of my rope.
I'm not expecting the other team to give up multiple first line players, high end prospects and 1st round picks. But I'm not expecting to only get other teams overpaid, past their prime garbage either.

Don't think we have to take that guy seriously. He is in his replies arguing with Flames fans that Brad basically has to accept something like that. The offer is the equivalent of Toffoli, Zadorov and a 2nd. It doesn't need to be taken seriously

Agreed.
Nemec is a fine add if one of those forwards is also included.

I'd rather scrap the 1st since it'll be protected anyway, and get someone who'll turn the "rebuild" around sooner...
Bratt, Nemec & Holtz/Mercer

If Nemec is true, I'd imagine there will be no picks. He would be the pick?

Would people take Mercer + Nemec + protected 1st?

Maybe my time frame is off, but I thought Iginla was freshly drafted when we acquired him. Although he wasn't top 5 pick either and it would still speak to the rarity that it happens.

Nieuwendyk held out so it was half way through the season.

Sure. I guess that'd presume NJ figured out the cap issues separately to the Tkachuk trade.
I don't really value Bratt much at all, think his season last year was an outlier to what he'll be going forward.

Yes. Potential top two line C and a potential top pairing D would be a great return.
If it was Bratt instead of the protected 1st, it'd be even better but I wouldn't expect them to offer that much.

Please focus on getting a center when moving Tkachuk. Mercer is a key component here. Mercer has top line ability. Add in Holtz as a possible top six RW and you have a good situation for the club going forward.
Pelletier-Mercer-Coronato
Stromgren-Zary-Holtz
Beck-Kerins-Nikolaev
That's a good prospect base to work from in replacing the gaps up front. Not everyone is going to turn out, but that's a great start in rebuilding the depth up front where we have the gaping holes.

Even prior to last year he was consistently producing at about 0.6 PPG. He would a decent "add on" to a package, but certainly not the centerpiece of one.

I realistically do not see Nemec nor Mercer being involved.
Nemec is their two week old #2 overall pick, so unless there was legit talks between NJD and CGY on the draft floor about orchestrating this...I don't see it.
Mercer is a guy who has already established himself as part of their core.
It certainly doesn't look like Bratt is someone NJD wants to pay big money to, so he makes sense as being available. Holtz is a big prize prospect that hasn't made his mark at the NHL yet, so I could see him being available - and ditto with their 2023 1st.

Fitzgerald is related to Tkachuk in some way isn't he?
My guess is it's structured similar to the Eichel deal, but the Devils might have options on the table.
Pick one of Hischier / Bratt (Tuch)
Pick one of Nemec / Mercer / Holtz (Krebs)
2023 1st (Top 10 protected like the Knights pick was)
2024 2nd (Same as Eichel trade)
Flames send Tkachuk with a contract and a 2024 3rd back the other way.

If they made a pick to appease the Flames in the hopes of acquiring Tkachuk later, but Tkachuk was looking like he was only available if Gaudreau left, then either they knew Gaudreau was gonezo when Gaudreau didn't even know, or something doesn't quite add up.
Unless it was a toss up between Nemec and someone and rather than just throw the coin they went with who the Flames preferred.

Well, you have to give to get. News at 11.
Holtz + 1st alone doesn't quite do it (since he's unproven at the NHL level). Bratt is probably preferred as a side piece to a deal for Calgary.
