Oh I agree, I would think he will be traded...
Probably will occur closer to the deadline.

I obviously don't know the specifics of this negotiation, but I know one thing is clear;
The Flames have the position of strength here. They want Stone, but they don't NEED Stone.
The Senators NEED to trade him. The desperation will kick in at some point, but we may have already walked in another direction by then.
Either way, the longer this takes, the more it favours Treliving and the Flames.

First of all I dont think anyone knows the mentality of Ottawa's Ownership.
Eugene Melnyk is a genuine crazy person.
Secondly, why not? They've lost other good assets for nothing. What makes Mark Stone so special?
I love that they're in DFL and dont even hold their own 1st. Thats gotta sting hard.

Dorion has made some good trades. Brassard, Duchene v2, Dzingel, Lazar come to mind

Flames probably have been contently sitting on their offer for days. All this "they're in, they're out". Of course they're in, but only on their terms, that's Treliving. The media making the situation sound fluid is just to create clicks and views.
The only thing that will matter is what happens a couple hours from now.

The Blues don't have a first-round pick this year. That probably limits their ability to acquire a big piece today.

You have to wear the Bib. They give it to you for a reason.

This is a good year to let this core group gain playoff experience, and demonstrate what they can do when it matters. Based on what happens (especially in terms of goaltending and/or this groups ability to play in a more physical context), we can adjust in the summer and chances are next year we are a truly legitimate contender (while the Sharks get one year older, and the Jets start to be mired in cap hell).
While there are no guarantees next year will be as successful, I don't think there is a need to panic.

Dorion's strikes me as the type of guy that would just keep ordering the soup and not counting it as the meal.

For what it's worth, I'm driving a vehicle today that at one point I was adamantly "out" on, while negotiating the purchase with the dealership. Was headed for the exit, that's it, not coming back...
Oh, I came back. Paid less, too.

I am guessing that the Flames stepped up an earlier offer last night and that is where the line in the sand currently exists.

Dorian strikes me as a guy that can be bullied into taking a deal from Treliving and maybe his lunch money.

It is an assumption, you're right. Judging from the moves Ottawa has made earlier, PD is mandated to secure the highest possible returns for Duchene, Dzingle and Stone. To have no return and lose Stone in UFA is a massive failure, and puts Dorion on the hot seat going forward. Terrible asset management.

I noticed on the game last night when they listed his trades, they listed all outgoing players. Trades aren’t defined by what they get, it’s by what they gave up. Ouch

Watch the Oilers swoop in and offer their two 1st rounders for Mark Stone because they think they're smarter than everyone.

I know you're joking, but a top line of
Drysaddle McElbow Stone
would be the best line in the league, and be more than good enough to see them start climbing back in the standings.

Surprised that we haven't really seen any smoke re Stone today. NO "Team X going hard after Stone" or "Team Y closing in on Stone" type tweets/comments from panel.
