Amazon Prime have announced they're doing a new Stargate series. The creators of the original show are involved, apparently it is a new series (not a reboot) that respects the previous series but doesn't require knowledge of them. With the people involved I'm hopeful.

I have never really got into Stargate, but as a big sci-fi fan I wonder if I should go back and watch the old series?
I'm a huge fan, I really liked that series so I'm stoked! Especially considering that it looks like they got most of the original band back together, at least the back-room guys who really loved the material and the story.
I hope this is going to be great!

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.

Anyone watching Beast Games season 2? I am enjoying this season, it's more of the same as last season (which I like).
Honestly my biggest complaint is ending every episode on a cliff hanger. They build the tension for like the whole episode then make you wait a week. But my old ass basically forgets what happened a week later and all the build up is completely gone.
I'm not as familiar with the Throttle House guys, but I've been following Francis for awhile on Instagram. Will be interesting to see how these guys do together.
Clarkeson did a little short on picking the guys, which was worth a few chuckles.

Well....we shall see. As we all know, those are big shoes. But at the very least, this time the OG Trio are around to help drive the ship in the right direction.
Its going to be interesting. Has there been any information about whether or not Wilman is going to be involved?
I've seen a few interviews with him and he appeared 'done and done.' But at the end of the day Clarkson and Wilman were the key cogs. I do feel that they're more or less finished with that part of their lives, but they might still throw in some input?

Why not just start a new show? Replacing hosts rarely works out.
Yes, no and maybe.
The format is still good, the idea is still good and...this is the most important part...the OG Hosts are leaving under good terms and passing a torch as opposed to burning the thing to the ground like the BBC did.
I would have fun with it.
New hosts go on a tour in Africa or something and race to a pub and...lo and behold who are sitting there on the patio having a beer? The old boys. Just for fun!
Collaboration rather than destruction.
I think there is hope.
When Top Gear ended the new hosts had to replace and replicate the old hosts and that was never going to work. It...pretty literally, crashed and burned.
Grand Tour? Its more of a progression and growth than outright replacement. I'll give it a whirl.
I'm enthusiastic about it. Obviously I liked Clarkson for his charming oafishness, but I really liked May and I've liked most of everything James May has done since so...'new Train Guy?' I'm interested. We'll see what happens.

One thing I would like to see change a tiny bit, is a bit more genuine adventure and exploration on their Grand Tours. Sometimes, the gag bits or ridiculous tasks/etc. got to be a bit much.
I realize I might be in the minority in this position.

I'm the same. I never liked when they'd paint a slur on someone's car or tampered with it. I loved when they had to deal with real challenges like the Arctic or Mongolia specials.
No one can replace the chemistry of the old boys, so if that's what you want to see don't bother watching. I liked new Top Gear because I liked Chris Harris, and even though the other two weren't great, he made up for it.
I like the Throttle House guys and Francis as well. It'll be fun to see them go on big budget adventures.
