Won't be doing cartwheels but no point in flipping out as it's not going to change anything. The guy did win a cup and was the only guy in recent history to get the Leafs into the playoffs so I would have to run with the positives and hope that management knows what they are doing with the hire.

Treliving hiring Randy Carlyle after him and Burke talking a big game about puck possession and in-game adjustments would be potentially the worst move of Tre's career and grounds for firing.

The optics would look poor and he would be chastised by the media and fans given his presser after letting Hartley go. That said I'm sure he doesn't give a crap what the media thinks if he think's Carlyle is his guy but judging by everything he has said since Hartley's firing Carlyle simply doesn't fit the profile of his guy so I'm not going to worry about it until it happens.

Deal. I will change my avatar or sig to an obnoxious photo of Carlyle with hearts and "blingee" and "gangsta" fluff all over it.

If Carlyle is hired, I will push Ryan Pinder into traffic.

Why bother? He will probably jump off a building all on his own if Carlyle is hired.

What about Claude Noel?
I honestly have no idea how good a coach he is, I just loved his sound bites.

I'll be very upset if it's Carlyle.
Treliving said all the right things about wanting to play a smart, possession-driven game.
Carlyle is not a possession coach at all. He's your classic dump and chase guy. His Leafs team was one of the worst defensive/possession teams in recent memory. Yeah it was a bad team - but it was better than the team Babcock has now and Babcock managed to improve the Leafs' possession game significantly.

Carlyle would be a nightmare. Worse than if we rehired Keenan.
How many times have the Flames interviewed him?

Crap.
Once is a courtesy. Twice is probably real interest.

He improved their possession but it was still a worse team that finished 30th. The worst the Leafs finished under Carlyle was 26th still awful. Definitely don't want Carlyle myself but this years Leafs team was awful

I think of Carlyle joins the Flames it will be in the same capacity as Crawford in Ottawa. I could see a young coach like Green given the job with Carlyle and Gelinas as the associate/assistant.
It has worked in Tampa with Bowness working under Cooper

Generally pretty happy most of the time. Brown? Sometimes in the summer.

It certainly won't be Carlyle.
The Flames first met with him, what, a month ago? He's not being offered a position.
