And I say this as someone who thought the 2014 Olympics were boring as paint drying. Outside of the Latvia game, there was more tension in your average Adam Sandler movie.

Did you catch the Canada/USA exhibition games? Significantly better than anything we saw in Sochi, from an entertainment perspective.

? There was a poop ton of big hits early on. You're watching a different game than everyone else.

One it's 3 zip and one team is dominating, the hits naturally slow down

To quote Johnny, you can't hit what you can't catch.

It's not easy to chase Drew Doughty around the ice or line up Sidney Crosby.

That said, Hanzel blew up Stamkos in the first.

Doughty keeps making neat little passes to Bouwmeester, who is definitely not on the same page. He hasn't been bad, but he's definitely not used to playing with a partner who can be so creative.

group games in the olympics are much worse. There's nothing on the line, everyone advances!

I think a lot of people on this site actively think about their previous relationship while with a new partner.

That almost makes it worse.

Let the tournament speak for itself. It will either produce drama or it won't, but constantly bringing up the Olympics is tiresome.

What? There is no way you watched the first two periods if this is what you think.

Seriously. Not a chance you watched the game. Why even bother trying to pretend this is glorified shinny hockey? This has been a great intense game with tons of hits. Stamkos alone has been clobbered at least 3 times. They are all finishing their checks.

And there is no way that Russia's forwards are better than Canada's.

There were 7 players with at least PPG last year.

5 of them were Canadians, and 3 of those guys aren't even in this lineup (Benn, Seguin and McDavid)

Bergeron - Crosby - Marchand
Benn - Seguin - McDavid
Tavares - Toews - Couture
Stamkos - Getzlaf - Perry
Thornton

Brodie has a decade of shots at team Canada though, this was probably Gio's last gas at it, which is why I would have loved for him to be there.

I didn't know there was only 39 Czech players in the NHL. I expected more. Basically 50% of the players are playing in this tournament.

With that in mind, they're doing very well.
