More superlatives on how JV really makes the Raps go: In the last three seasons they are 35-15 when he scores 17 or more points, and 51-28 when he has at least 10 FGAs. So lets hope that injury report comes back decent and that they keep trying to feed him the ball. He's going to be even bigger if they get to the conference finals where the Cavs have no one who can handle him.

DeRozan and Lowry now gotta carry this team and Biyombo needs to step it up.

Hopefully Bebe gets into rotation over Scola who has been awful in any minutes he's gotten.

Nothing official on Whiteside, but he's gotta be out a few games at least, it looked like a pretty bad injury. So the middle should be opened up for DeRozan to attack the rim more, and realistically you could go with PP at the 5 and Carroll or even James Johnson at the 4 to start and keep Biyombo as the off the bench man because Miami has poor big man depth if Whiteside is out.

I really like the idea of giving Bebe a few minutes every game, because he's the sort of player who can really force the other team to make adjustments when he's going. With Whiteside out, Miami could struggle to maintain a Bebe/Joseph pick-and-roll and have nothing but 6'9 PFs to try and defend it with.
If Casey can somehow cobble together some decent lineups here enough to win two games, it'll probably be the biggest achievement of his head-coaching career. Of course, he might just sit back and hope DeRozan and Lowry get hot. Too often he's just reactive, when what he should be doing is finding some lineups that force Miami to try to react and adapt.

Casey will try and plug Patterson into JV's spots and think that he's solved the problem.

Wade could have apologized easily and just take responsibility for what happened and move on. Instead talks about how everyone knows he's not a disrespectful person. I guess for some of these superstar athletes who are told over and over that their poop doesn't smell, its very hard to own up to something.

What a lame excuse by Dwayne Wade. Ritual my butt. I would like to him do the same thing when the US national anthem is being sang to see how Americans will react. I always and respect his talent but now I totally lost respect in him. He is a do**he.

Has the League not fined him yet? This sets a pretty big precedent if they don't.

I'm not being the typical "everyone's against Canada" guy when I say this, but honestly the league would only do something if it was during the American anthem.
There will be some outrage up here that will fall on deaf ears down south, it'll be nothing compared to what you'd see on social media if a star did this during the beloved American anthem.
The league won't want to make a big deal of something negative unless they're forced to, and Canadians are pretty easy to ignore in the grand scheme of things for a an American league with one Canadian team.

Did he actually say its his ritual? To keep shooting through the anthems or just the Canadian anthem. Either is stupid and extremely disrespectful.

NBA players play 95-100% of their games during the season without the Canadian anthem. I'm sure he just saw it as "who cares I'll just keep shooting until the American anthem" and had no ritual where he actually keeps shooting during anthems.
If anything he probably had no idea there'd be a problem and when confronted just kind of said something when he realized he was I a bit of trouble.

The NBA's also weird with anthems in that they play them loooong before tip off, with like 20-40% of the crowd in their seats. It's really odd and silly. Either play them close to tip off with most of the crowd there or don't play them at all, imo.
I actually thought the NBA didn't do anthems when I was younger as I had honestly never ever seen one on a broadcast, then one year I was watching a Raptors playoff game and turn it on to the pregame show and all of a sudden the lights went down while the players were shooting around and they all kind of stood in a line with a small smattering of fans and the anthems were sung. It threw me off, they were played with the same care and attitude that the DJ puts on warm up music in the NHL during their warm up before the final ice cleaning, haha.

The thing is it is actually in the NBA Rulebook
(2) Players, coaches and trainers are to stand and line up in a dignified posture alongthe sidelines or on the foul line during the playing of the National Anthem.

If NBA doesn't do anything then I'd love to see Corey Joseph pull the same stunt after the Canadian anthem finishes. Go start shooting while the American is going.

They play the American anthem first in Toronto, but yeah that would pretty awesome if he did that if nothing is done by the NBA. I'd love to see the immediate and harsh hypocrisy of the league if it were to happen.
You'd have thousands of angry Americans doing mental gymnastics on social media trying to argue that it's WAY worse now that it's the American anthem being disrespected. The league would be forced to respond and would end up looking really bad as they condemned one incident while letting the other go due to which country was being disrespected in each instance.

Oh for sure, I just don't think league will want to make a big deal of it. It's negative publicity for them, and they'll avoid it if they can, and I believe they'll be able to due to which anthem was being disrespected.
If anything, I assume they'll try to pass out a minor media note stating they he should have respected it and they talked with him about it. At most I could see the NBA forcing him to make a better apology and it'll be along the lines of "I didn't know the rule, now I know the rule, I won't break the rule again (insert disingenuous comment about liking Canada)".

I'm talking about tomorrow for game 4. Canadian will be played first, stand and respect but when it's over go start shooting.
Also, this is Canada's team, We the North all that stuff. Derozen and Lowry can win back all Canadian fans they've pissed off by leading this charge and start shooting around during the American Anthem. Talk about unifying a team and a nation especially with the ft. mac tragedy. They represent Raptors and Canada, lead the charge boys.
