I can picture it perfectly. The Flames bring Conroy, Arnold and Gaudreau to the meeting. After showing him our depth chart and our immense depth on the RW position, Conroy has a "short" talk with Kevin about hockey, before the Flames brass show him and his agent an hour long video montage of Johnny feeding Hayes the pucks and the whole line ripping it up. Hayes will have no other option than to ask "where do I sign?"

^nice thought, but according to Arnold's twitter feed, he and Gaudreau are in Philly today spending some time with some other BC Eagles (i.e. not Hayes).

He was a different one, really in the eyes of the NHL he was a UFA for ~7months, could have quit school and signed at any time. But has Sureloss said 6 days after his season ended.

He's probably talked to Gaudreau and Arnold enough about the flames. The sell job will have to come from management.

Gaudreau and Hayes were together in a hockey camp this week according to Hayes' twitter

Is it just me or does Johnny do hockey all the time?

That's why he's Johnny Hockey and not Johnny Other Stuff.

I wonder if Lowe's got Mess, Gretz, Coffs on standby so that he can use the 80's name power as they did with Justine (aka PK Subban-West) Schultz a few years back.
I am Gretzky has Lowe blocked by this point, however.

Johnny looks like a midget next to him. Maybe he could be his line bodyguard.

Yeah you probably can't discount the oilers on Hayes. What's their sales pitch? Guaranteed NHL roster spot. Lol

It is the mighty Kevin Lowe..he won't ask Mess, Gretz or Coffey for help. Remember he said he'd won more Stanley Cup than any hockey executives in the NHL. He thinks he is hockey god so he'll talk to Kevin Hayes by himself and sell himself. Then Hayes starts laughing his head off and tell Lowe to get the F out of my face

Nothing wrong with the Flames picking up a player his size that already has proven chemistry with Johnny and Arnold.
There is no downside to picking up a prospect for nothing more than a ETL.

Lifetime Suspension

I say 3 days.
He'll sign somewhere stupid that makes no sense, and where he'll have less of a chance to crack an NHL roster. Just knowing how things go when it comes to us and wooing free agents.

Powerplay Quarterback

I think Monahan is the sales pitch, he knows who we have, we need to show him that he is in charge of where he starts based on what he puts in

The flames can make a decent pitch to him but it's still a long shot for him to sign here. He'll have just as good an opportunity to make the flames as anyone else in the system... If not more since he is a right winger. The team has developed a great reputation as a young hard-working team that will be on the rise very soon. His college line mates/buddies are here which means he'll at least be with one or both of them even if he doesn't make the team. And if he doesn't make the big club... He'll be closer to home for his first year on the farm team.
Would be great if he signs with the flames but I'm not going to hold my breath... Calgary is a long way away from home for him. His brother is with Florida who also seem like a team ready to improve and he will have a good chance to make that team too.

Just seeing how thrilled players like Gagliardi, Knight and Raymond were/are to play for their home team makes me think Boston is the most likely destination. Home team, good opportunity to step in right away, winning team.....

Wouldn't the Flames have to give up a compensatory pick?

no, the Hawks get the compensatory pick (# 54) from the league. He's a normal UFA now.

In Boston? If he doesnt think he can fight for a place in Chicago then I dont think hes going to pick Boston based on the same criteria.
