Agree entirely. One thing though, it should be renamed the North Division - Winnipeg and Minnesota would respectively be the 8th and 10th westernmost teams in the conference, so it becomes not especially western. However, they would be the 5 northernmost teams in the conference. Hell, just call it the Canadian division, we'll accept Minnesota as an adopted son.

It is my understanding that they are at the point where TNSE is now negotiating the transfer fee TNSE would pay MLSE for the territory.
Winnipeg is being used a temporary home, to get the team closer to the one market that an investor would actually want - S. Ontario.

LOL..
Yeah, I'm sure the Leafs won't demand that much for territorial concessions.

so TSN meter today indicates a more likely situation to have the Jets back to the 'peg.
i think using the Jets as the name makes sense. like the MLS, when NY Cosmos joins in 2013, the old fans will be driven back to the market.

With over 1000 posts in this thread I can honestly say I haven't read all of them. However the few that I did see relating to "Manitoba something" were unconfirmed rumors.

Yeah I wasn't trying to imply it condescendingly...just remember skimming through it on this thread or another Phoenix thread.

That's all for now.

I like the Winnipeg Beaver idea, who doesn't like beaver?
Of course if they get into the playoffs that means no shaved Beavers in Winnipeg.

Winnipeg Transits because the team will be in Winnipeg in trasit on it's way to Toronto. Just modify the old Jets logo with a semi truck, mirror the hockey stick and make it into a T.

Yeah, because the league looks better moving a team from winnipeg to Phoenix to winnipeg and then to Toronto, as opposed to just moving one of the thrashers or panthers.
Never mind there's no other building being constructed in southern Ontario. But there's already a massive conspiracy going on. Sure.

True North would have to virtually guarantee that the building is completely sold out with season ticket holder. The MTS centre would be the smallest venue in North America for one of the "Big 4" pro leagues. At just over 15,000 seats, their would be almost no margin for a drop in support.
Winnipeg says they want their team back... they better mean it.

That assumes the hockey team would be a stand alone operation and ticket sales would be the only driver of revenue. The difference between jets2.0 vs. The original Jets is that the owners would own the arena and draw revenue not only from a future team but from all uses of the arena which is considered one of the busiest in North America.
Jets1.0 was a cash cow for Winnipeg Enterprises who sucked up all the parking and concession revenue and skimmed a cut of the ticket sales through their "Select-a-Seat" distribution channel and in return provided the team with one of the worst buildings in the league with essentially no real avenue for high yield corporate box revenue.

Phoenix Coyotes again facing Red Wings in playoffs as future in Glendale remains in doubt
http://www.azcentral.com/community/g...red-wings.html
"I can't say enough about the focus and commitment of the players on this team, as well as its coaching staff and front-office personnel," Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly said. "I'm sure the fans are frustrated, as we all are, with the ownership uncertainty, and with the inability to this point to close a transaction."
But Daly on Friday said he's committed to closing the deal in Glendale. At least "until it becomes clear to us that those efforts are futile or until we have no choice other than to move on."
He said,"At this point, I can't say when that will be."
City Manager Ed Beasley said the city is doing the best it can.
"There isn't a day that goes by where the parties are not looking to make the deal better," he said.
Hulsizer's group is ready for a resolution.
"It's curious why there are factors at play preventing the deal from getting done," Hulsizer representative Brad Goldberg said.

NHL cash call like prostate exam
Awkward, necessary and over quickly
http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/spe...119947034.html
According to Free Press sources, the NHL and True North Sports and Entertainment continue to talk and investigate the possibility of relocating the Phoenix Coyotes to Winnipeg. Before any deal between True North and the NHL can be completed, the league will want to exhaust every one of its dwindling options in Arizona.
The NHL determines who gains entrance into its club. Maybe they have different rules for different markets and maybe that rubs some of us the wrong way. But that’s the reality and we have to get our head around it. That will be up to Winnipeg. If we don’t like having a gun to our head we can just take a pass.
But kicking up a fuss and railing against the injustice of it all won’t change the final outcome.
Winnipeg is not getting an NHL team without demonstrating its viability as a market. End of story.
