Watched the first couple episodes of Bad Batch, and while the story seems interesting it's really hard to stay engaged when the show is so obviously geared to kids and teens, that's the primary reason I was never able to get into Clone Wars or Rebels. I was hoping being a Disney+ series would make it more of an adult animation, but I guess not
Yeah, I'm not sure about it either. Not having watched the previous shows, I had no idea who the guy they went to see in episode 2 was. And it seemed like important backstory.
Some people will have some troubles with this because if I was going to be honest, Bad Batch is pretty much Clone Wars season 9 where we're following previous characters on a new arch that links to Clone Wars. So things like Cut, and the inhibitor chip story, and Echo's story for example all link back to the Clone Wars.
And yeah they've started off fairly light hearted, but when we get into more of the effects of Order 66 and the chase by the Empire it will follow the same formula as Rebels and Clone Wars and get darker.

The Following User Says Thank You to CaptainCrunch For This Useful Post:
Episode three amped things up, and signaled a departure in a way from the more kid friendly start.
Spoiler!
We saw the birth of the Imperial Storm Trooper as the Empire experiments with conscripted troopers to replace the cost prohibitive clones.
We also saw the start of the rivalry of the Clones versus conscript that's hinted in the expanded universe with Cody.
Crosshair is put in command of the squad of conscripts all dressed in black armor (Death Troopers Mark 1). We saw why the Empire could inspire loyalty in their troops as one of the new soldiers comments "The empire pays me, puts a roof over my head and feeds me, that's more then the republic did" For all of the glorification of the Republic, it really was shown as a dying and corrupt entity, largely in part to a thousand years of rot.
These soldiers were sent with Crosshair in command back to Saw's camp on Onderan, there we saw the brutal efficiency of the new Stormtoopers. Then after the battle was over Crosshair brutally interrogates and then executes one of the prisoners. But when the rest of the squad resists his orders to butcher the rest, he executes one of the dissenters and orders the execution of the rest of the prisoners.
This episode was a little Bad Batch lite as they crash on a planet and have to repair their ship, which leads to tracking down a dragon that eats power and Omega has to step up to save the day. It was more character development and establishing the relationship of the squad with her.
This was a almost two episode show with two distinct feels on the two story lines. The Imperial Story was very dark and brutal, where as the Batch story was still a bit light hearted, but you can see where the two stories are eventually going to merge.
Other thoughts.
The Kaminoans can see that the Empire is going to stop making clones and thus need to find a way to make themselves and their clones indispensable. In the end they talked about creating a new line of clones, but the Jango material was degrading. I wonder if Omega was suppossed to be the source of new material for this super clone?
Wrecker is developing headaches, is his inhibitor chip functioning?
It was interesting that they showed this really neat contrast. When Crosshair and his squad return to the old Batch quarters it now looks stark and cold and you can feel the distrust between Crosshair and the squad, meanwhile with the batch when they gave Omega a room on the ship it was warmly lite and comfortable. It shows that the Empire is not about family or trust, but about the cold application of brutal force to solve problems. Meanwhile the batch is all about trust and family something that Crosshair used to be a part of.
Project War Mantle first made a appearance in Rogue One as a random throw away in the citidel data theft of the Death Star Plans. It sounds like this series is going to focus on it as its part of the Empire building its New Order Military.
We're going to die, we're going to die, we're going to . . . looks at Omega be fine. Wrecker kills me.
Its not his fault. Kind of a sad moment with the Batch finds Crosshair's kit. But I really don't feel like there is going to be a reunion.
Is Omega a untouched clone of Jango like Bobba was. Is she a force sensitive clone? Is the superior clone project have to do with Palpatines quest for immortality?

The first episode was good. Second was weaker. But third was great. There's a lot of story going on that you wouldn't see in a traditional kids show and great backstory for fans of Star Wars.
A lot of people on line are speculating that the last scene with Crosshair on his bunk showed that he was having regrets and planning how to reunite with the Batch.
I don't see it, he's looking at the conscripts and deciding how to kill them if they don't follow orders

It is, wonder how it effects his directorial work in terms of the Mandalorian, Bad Batch etc. He's extremely talented as a story teller, but if this bumps KK then its a great move.

I'm not sure that it is. I think most people would probably prefer that Dave were more 'hands-on' in terms of the content as opposed to directing traffic for others.
You know...stick to what you're good at?
I guess we'll see.

There's a bounty on Omega, not the rest of the batch, but Omega. It has to be the Kaminoains, Who's she a clone of? Is she similar to the child in the Mandalorian in that his genetic material was possibly the key to cloning Palpatine?
Is Omega a Clone, or a natural born person?
I love the difficult adjustment to civilian life for the batch, little things like not understanding bribes, being dependent on someone else providing them with food and fuel.
Fennec makes her debut, and it was a really good chase through the city. The animation is really well done. Also she beat Wrecker in about 2 seconds.
No mention of Cross Hairs, but he has to be the big threat coming up.

I just rewatched the last season of Clone Wars. While I did skip the Ashoka and her friends episode, I watched the Bad Batch arc and the Order 66 arc.
The Bad Batch makes the new series even tougher to watch because of the Cross Hairs betrayal. The Order 66 arc, and especially the live action captured duel between Maul and Ashoka was amazing to rewatch. Especially tough to watch with the roll out of Vader at the end finding her light saber.

I dunno the first episode was great, but it's lost me a bit since then. I get they are trying to humanize them in the typical Filoni 3-4 episode lull.. but they also lost my interest a bit.
Hoping for more sooner than later.

I think we're going to get some interesting answers in Bad Batch, I mean I hope we do.
The transition from the Clone Army to a conscription army.
What happened to Commander Cody after the Clone Wars
Are we seeing the start of the Death Troopers from Rogue One
Who is Omega, is she even a clone?
Can Crosshair be saved, does he escape and shake off his chip
What are the next generation of Clones that the Kaminoans are building (Hint I think we saw it in Star Wars Battlefronts story lines.
Are we going to see the reunion of Wolfe, Gregor and Rex.
What happens the next time the Batch run into a Jedi, and its going to happen. Is Wrecker's chip active?
