I watched The Order. It was a competent film (filmed in Southern Alberta) starring Jude Law as a burned out FBI agent trying to take down a terrorist white supremist group led by a charismatic leader played by Nicholas Hoult.
It was based on a true story and takes place in 1980. Thing of it was... I don't know why you would read the story of it, and think "oh, this should be a movie!"? Jude Law's character was interesting and well played... but never existed. He was an amalgam of a number of other agents. There are action sequences of robberies etc, but because they were factual, they weren't really that interesting to watch.
I didn't know the story, so wasn't certain where it was going. At the end, I just sort of thought... "welp, that was "a" movie. I should go watch Jude Law in something he did that was good... maybe Road to Perdition? Haven't seen that in a while..."
He was excellent in The Talented Mr. Ripley.

Havoc with Tom Hardy is another in a long line of Netflix films that are clear money laundering schemes. Not even stupid fun, skip it unless you’re some sort of Tom Hardy catalogue completionist. Paper thin plot, bad acting, poor direction, and vomit inducing camerawork. Maybe you loved The Raid but I've seen The Raid and this, ma'am, is no Raid.
I watched Raising Cain by De Palma, starring John Lithgow who gives an amazing performance. The movie is a psychological thriller where Lithgow plays a child psychiatrist with multiple personalities who is kidnapping children (there is so much more involved in the plot but that's just a brief synopsis). I love De Palma films and while the first half was super strange by the end i loved it.
People say Hitchcock is the master of the thriller but I think De Palma is the best. No director today is close to his level.
There's only one true beauty in The Age of Innocence and that's my main lady Miriam Margolyes

If you’re ever interested in seeing where Tarantino, ahem, *borrowed* most of Kill Bill from watch Lady Snowblood, it is a damn fine film. You'll be the DiCaprio meme often as you recognize all the shots he lifted

Watched a few Nolan films recently. I've put off watching Tenet for a while, after reading a bunch of review/posts about how confusing it was and you need like 5 rewatches to understand it. I found it to be very good and actually was no so difficult to follow along. Gave it the GQ article on it a read afterwards that explained it and I am fully satisfied I understand what happened. Very solid film and I'll probably rewatch it again fairly soon.
Also gave Momentum a rewatch last night. I found that actually a lot more difficult to follow then Tenet, but still a very solid film. Wife and her friend we watched it with didn't like it and were confused the entire time, but it all clicked with me.
Nolan is a madman with all these crazy time shifting ideas going through his head. Literally the mathematic meme guy.
Watched The Monkey. Bleh, dumb film. Not scary at all and the splatter-gore scenes were dumb. Interesting concept, but bleh.

Settles out of court for massive amounts of money. Moves to Fiji and buys a compound to live the rest of his days in isolation with Natascha McElhone.
Sounds like a great life
Oooh....or maybe he starts his own cult? He becomes a serious problem to be reckoned with! Millions of followers? Maybe gets into Politics? Takes over a Nation or two?
That could be cool.
