Flames seem to value character just as much. Thankfully.

Hi numpty east coast media Ppl, Flames fan here and I just wanted you to know, the Flames don't need any D men. They're good. Especially the caliber of a Mailloux. Flames cupboards are pretty stocked with those types of D men.
So start spreading rumors about the Flames going after your respective teams centers, or younger centers. Because that's what they're looking for. Thnx bye.

Mailloux is a person that I think would be worth a discussion at least.
He was 17 and he made a stupid mistake that a lot of 17-25 year olds have made.
I've never shared photos like that before, but I'd be lying if I said that guys I played sports with wouldn't share photos girls sent them when we were in the locker room or hanging out when we were 17-22. Unfortunately it's a problem that lies far beyond Logan Mailloux.
People like Stan Bowman or the members of the WJC team (if allegations are true) should have never gotten a second chance in the NHL.
But I do feel like Mailloux is a case where a second chance is actually fair.

Off-ice character discussion aside for a second.
Mailloux is a 21 year old d-man who is 6'3" and led AHL rookies in scoring last year. He'd fit in very nicely long term on a blueline with Parekh and Brzstuwicz.

The organization already had to deal with the bad optics of Topi Ronni and Dillon Dube last season, they don't need to add this headache.

Let's be clear though that's not what he did.
He took and shared the photos without her consent. She didn't know he took the photos.
I would be very disappointed if the Flames traded for him. For all I care his second chance can be working in the drive through at McDonalds.

I understand all sides to the Mailloux talk, but there’s no way he gets traded. This kid is not just pretty good, he’s an absolute BEAST. I would probably trade any of our D prospects not named Parekh or Brzustewicz for him, in a heartbeat.

On a podcast Mathias Brunet and Simon Boisvert, aren't fans of Mailloux and his offense and are speculating that the Habs may trade him like they did Alexander Romanov.
Brunet speculated Calgary as a destination because they seem to like d-men like Mailloux.
|
So the Habs are having problems with Mailloux being an offensive defenseman.
Hutson, on the other hand, is just fine.
... 'kay.

I haven't followed him at all since the Canadiens took all the flack about drafting him. It would seem odd to take all the PR hit at the time and then walk away when the prospect is probably about to pop. Seems like a good buy low candidate.

Remember it was a different GM that made the pick.

I don't think anyone wants to trade him. In the article it was just a guy saying he didn't like Maillouxs game and didn't think it would transfer well to the NHL.
I don't think there's any actual smoke around s move is there?

The Flyers have signed a goalie (Eetu Makiniemi) they had invited to camp. Wonder if that means Kolosov is not coming back over?

Flames aren’t trading for Mailloux, don’t worry friends.
I’m told he was on their do not draft list and that won’t change, character issues is not something they want in their room.
Sorry MTL fans.

Bringing Barrie in to push the kids was smart, and it worked.

Mailoux has always been a top-end defencemen, and had it not been for his 'mistake', he would have been drafted higher in the draft. On one side, you can argue that a teenager can sometimes be stupid and do something in poor judgment, and go on to learn from it. I personally don't know anyone that has made such poor judgments before, however. I can understand this rationale that people should be given second chances.
What I also think is "#### Mailoux". The more successful he becomes, the more famous he becomes, and the more famous his victim will become. I also don't want him on a team I cheer for where players are often role models for kids. Do I want kids to have to rationalize that poor behaviour? I am sure the victim was traumatized. I think deserves to put it all behind her and move on with her own life, and I think that becomes harder as this kid builds up his fame. From that standpoint, I don't think he deserves a second chance because of this inverse correlation, so I do wish nothing but the worst for this kid so that they both blur into obscurity which I am sure she wishes for herself. Call me difficult or weird or unforgiving. That's how I rationalize things personally when it comes to this case.
