it's a lose-lose-lose situation. If Trump wins, well, that's a nightmare. If Trump loses, you're looking at another coup attempt. If Trump somehow has to drop out and DeSantis wins, that's a nightmare too. Dude can't talk about the weather without mentioning "woke" 7 times.

Would you rather have DeSantis win? He's the more dangerous of the two.
No one’s expressing a preference for DeSantis. His policies would not play well across the country and Biden would destroy him. But you’re right, he’s more dangerous.

They could easily quash a repeat of Jan 6 with a little bit of planning, and Biden would be in more control of a response as he is the president.
I get Desantis being the more evil of the two. But we can't risk another 4 years with a crazier, more emotionally immature Trump who will have an even nuttier supporting cast. Everyone who reined in any of the craziness last time is gone and no sane person will be anywhere near a second administration.
It could all be avoided by the Dems just running a better candidate.
Who? The democrats are a bit paralyzed since there is no one who seems to be acceptable to all the major blocs within their party. They need to appease the blue collar mid-west states, black community, progressives and moderates, and it's rare to find anyone acceptable to all those groups.

Competency trumps all of those things, but that would mean going outside of their political circle.

There are good options if they just put some resources behind promoting them.
Jeffries is great every time he speaks, Booker I think has come a long way in his delivery as well, Elizabeth Warren I personally think should have been their running candidate for the last 3 elections, but she may be on the older side now, same with Sanders. Newsome is a decent option too. But they won't put any support behind them because Biden wants to run again. If Biden stepped aside no doubt some good candidates would emerge. People are afraid to turn the page on the 20th century.
Ha you guys are silly. Biden runs this time and 2028 the democratic nomination will come down between Newsom and Polis. Shoot there’s a halfway chance something goes sideways and Newsom slips in for 24, and he’d smoke both Trump and Desantis.

The US is in a similar boat to Canada where they've essentially got inflation back around the target and have kept unemployment *very* low.
Its basically a vibes only bad economy. If the US manages to stay where they are economically - people will start feeling more optimistic. Everyone has heard that a recession is coming for like 2 years so its going to take a while for people to believe it might not come.
Regardless who wins, the division is dug in now and that's the bigger problem in Murica. Until our cousins down south are able to unite, they'll continue to struggle while the rest of the world moves forward without them.

And they aren't going to unite, hence why it's obvious where this is all headed.
