Sing Sing (Prime) was excellent. The movie does a fantastic job of bringing its characters to life, making them feel real and deeply human.
It’s hard not to smile when the characters are enjoying themselves.
I expected Colman Domingo’s role to be more of a wise, saint-like figure, but I was pleasantly surprised by how complex and flawed Divine G turned out to be. Domingo really got to show his range.
Aubrey Plaza has done some incredible work lately, "Emily the Criminal" and "Black Bear" were some of my favorites of the past couple years then I saw "My Old Ass" and was surprised they pulled off that premise, so effective and done quite well. Loved it.

I'm going through Quentin Tarantino's filmography right now, Reservoir Dogs is a fantastic debut. The movie really set up how movies are written for decades to come. The pop culture references, the pop music set to scenes of intense violence, the snappy dialogue, it might be the most influential film of the past 35 years. I've actually only seen like 3 of his films so this was a first time watch for me. Next up Pulp Fiction
You inspired me to watch Kill Bill vol 1 this weekend. Such a great movie; epic and entertaining.
We piggyback off my mother-in-law’s Disney+ subscription, which she just recently changed to the ad tier one. Getting a commercial at pretty much any point in that movie is jarring. Much more so than your typical romcom or what not movie.

I watched Conclave - I couldn't help myself from being reminded of the parody trailer from Tropic Thunder "Satan's Alley" with Robert Downey Jr/Tobey Maguire.
Overall though pretty interesting movie with a great music score.

Does it get better? I'm tempted to give it another whirl because...Ralph Fiennes and Stan Tucci, but then again...Catholic Church and the Popes?
The way the Church selects Popes is neat but I honestly couldn't really care less. I got dreadfully bored after about 45 minutes.
I'm a completionist, I usually finish the things I start, come Hell or High Water but a couple of times I felt my eyes start rolling into the back of my head on that one.

I tell everyone about "My Old Ass" and nobody believes how good I claim it to be. I think it was my favourite movie of 2024. 10/10.

I mainly watched because of Ralph Fiennes - I was interested in how he would do in what I would think is a very challenging role as an actor (Pope).
Also mentioned the music score - I 100% felt it helped elevate some scenes from what would otherwise be extremely dull.

The original motion picture soundtrack for the film "Conclave" was composed by Volker Bertelmann, known for his work on "All Quiet on the Western Front," and features a unique soundscape that avoids traditional ecclesiastical or classical styles, instead employing instruments like the Cristal Baschet.
Overall though I sort of had the same reaction as you. I zoned out a couple of times in the middle part of the movie. My gut reaction rating was 6/10. You aren't missing much by not watching.

Commercials are a non-starter for me for any movie now. I just can't handle the interruptions.
I started streaming "The Mummy" with ads on some service and when the first one hit I turned it off and bought a DVD set.

Old ass is fine. Plaza is great but a side character.
Canadian movie though which is cool.
Aubry is awesome as a friendly foil, agent of chaios within the story.
Not sure I have seen her much as protagonist or if her shtick would work for a main role. But she has built a really enjoyable career doing what she does.
Watched "The Menu" with Ralph Fiennes and Anya Taylor-Joy, and really enjoyed it. 8/10. A highly expensive and exclusive dinner for 12 people is being held on a secluded island. Could easily have been a play given the depth of character and dialogue.
(No, it isn't cannibals).
Won't say more than that simply because each plot point ultimately seems to wind up super relevant in hindsight.

It's beautifully acted and filmed but in the end I didn't give a toss or even have a clue as to why I should care who got to be the pope
Went and saw Mickey 17 in the theatre. It was ok, but didn't know what it wanted to be. Comedy? Social commentary? Sci-fi? Tries to be all, accomplishes little.
I like all those, but ultimately found this pretty tedious. 6/10.
It doesn't rise to the level of Parasite for narrative, or Snowpiercer for social commentary. There were too many narrative lose ends that just stayed loose. Most of the comedy fails to land IMO. It doesn't help that you saw almost all of it in the trailer.
The aliens were cool. Robert Pattinson's performance is a highlight for sure, he was great.

A Complete Unknown made its way to Disney. I recognize that it’s a well-made film, but I felt it was a bit boring and maybe not a particularly interesting story to tell about Bob Dylan.

Safety Not Guaranteed.

I saw Snow White (yes that Snow White) with my daughters. Was it the worst movie ever made? Hell no. Was it good ? Also hell no. It was no worse than all the other terrible Disney live action remakes. Kids in the theater seemed to enjoy it. I'll probably never watch it again, if I want to see Snow White I'll check out the original cartoon or the Kristin Stewart/ Charlize Theron version.
