I agree with the call on the field, in theory. Three points isn't going to help you a whole lot. There isn't enough time in the game to get 8 field goals; you have to start putting up majors. What better time to try than inside the red zone like that?
Hitting a field goal there let's you say "Yay, we didn't get shut out!" but not much else.

Smith was horrible last night. The worst I have seen him. In the past, when he rolled out he looked pretty good, but last night he was horribly inaccurate. The o-line were missing their assignments, the receivers were dropping the ball when it did get to them. Even the zebras felt sorry and gave the Niners the play at the end of the half.
Tough time to be a Niners fans, especially when the year started with such promise.

Going for it on the 2 for a first down I could live with even though I would have kicked (it's a 50-50 call). But going for it on the 25 (4th and 4) 5 minutes later was just awful. Down by 17 you need a FG at some point.

I was wondering it Coach Nolan wasn't letting his emotions get away with him at that point in the game.

This is what I was thinking. 4th and 2 (basically right on the goal line) you go for it, but the second opportunity I think you just have to kick it. Also considering at that point they were 0-1 on 4th down, and 0-7(maybe 8) on 3rd downs.
I am not saying that the 3 pts would have made a difference in the game but losing 27-3 is better than getting shutout in football...that is so deflating for a team to get shutout in that sport. 49ers suck so it doens't matter, I just thought the play calls were questionable.

Looks like Travis Henry may not be suspended after all.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3107244
If he is it looks like the Broncos will stand behind him and wait the year out. I was really hoping if he was suspended they would release him and move on. Will be interesting to see what happens on the appeal.

He was actually one of the only players I like on Indy. That sucks...
With the Titans and Jags not far behind now this could mean trouble for Indy going down the streatch!

He has missed 1 game in his career prior to this. I know he struggled a bit with injury last year (but played in every game), but I don't think he's had any worse luck than the average at his position.

NFL has reinstated running back Ricky Williams.
My thoughts are put him in the game with Chatman, the only bright spot on the offence is the running game because the Oline is doing some excellent run blocking. Plus it would increase his trade value.
On another note there are reports out there that ROOKIE QB Beck will start for the Miami Dolphins in Philly this sunday.
If its true this is excellent news, Miami had 7 games to evaluate Beck and see if he shows signs of potential, because they will most likely have the first overall pick,

In other news...Herm Edwards has officially made Croyle his starting QB. If you have 4 minutes to kill watch the press conference bit from NFL.com....Herm's always pretty good at those. I like how he says Jaworski and Young make a good point that you can't just put a 6'-5 guy who can throw 70 yards on his knees on the field and expect him to excel. There's an intangible quality about the position that is very hard to evaluate, if it wasn't teams wouldn't miss on so many first round picks at the position...Also Johnson out at least another week and will be re-evaluated next week by a foot specialist. Hopefully the Chiefs line shows up for this weeks game, I don't want to see Priest Holmes and Brody Croyle carted off the field due to getting annihilated....That said...I like the Colts to win the game by at least 17 points.

First thing I thought of too...What do the Dolphins have to lose!

I like the fact that Beck is going to get his shot. I personally think this was a great pick by the Dolphins. People hack on them for not drafting Quinn at 9, but they got really good value with Beck. Not that it excuses the pick of Ginn.
As for Ricky, do they ride him out for the rest of the season with Chapman and then ship him out in the offseason to run a Chapman-Brown tandem backfield. I wonder what he would fetch.

Some interesting Larry Johnson news....he is not limping, walking around in a soft boot or barefoot. Eyewitness accounts from last night and today. Reliable source.
Sounds like he'll be back this season.
Dolphins....I like Beck. Great pick.
Colts....by the end of the San Diego game that had 13 players available on the offensive side of the ball. 13. Wow.
So, they started the game with 17 players on offense, lost 4 of them, had their QB throw 6 INT's (hmmmm maybe a lack of receiving experience had a bit to do with that) and the 'greatest kicker to ever play the game' (arguable) miss 2 makable field goals...and they STILL almost won the game. What does that say about that team?
