A glorious bit of Velvet Underground-esque balladry, "Benediction" moves elegantly through five minutes of subtle, gentle grace, propelled sure-handedly by Samara Lubelski's exquisite violin.
Julian Casablancas tweeted this link today and they are one band I need to see live, almost every youtube video of them live sounds as good if not better then the recorded stuff.

The Following User Says Thank You to GreenLantern For This Useful Post:
Louisville festival-wreckers My Morning Jacket have been teasing us with shreds of detail about Circuital, their first new album since 2008's Evil Urges. And now we know just when to expect the LP-- ATO will release it on May 31.

Have you heard? Urge Overkill’s first album in over sixteen years is coming, and soon!
Check out this message sent to the Urge mailing list from Nash Kato & King Roeser:
Urge Overkill are pleased to formally announce our long-awaited return from the depths of studio silence with a brand new offering: all aboard the Rock&Roll Submarine! We are thrilled that this seaman’s dozen o’fresh tracks reflect our time-tested love of all things both Musical and Nautical. And you can expect, loyal listener, the same-gauge torpedoes Urge Overkill has always delivered on target. This sure-to-be controversial recording is now entering its final stage of mixing, and our sonic-sonar is set to “STUN.” So check our WarBoard for album updates, as we can’t wait to submURGE and recruit some new mates on tour. ~AHOY!
Rise Against is one case where I'm sort of sad they became popular. They were so much more awesome before they were writing music for larger audiences.
I like all their albums, they've definitely mellowed with age, but I think thats pretty common as artists get older.
Queensryche is releasing another album in June. Given that Operation: Mindcrime II exceeded my expectations (Ronnie James Dio as Dr. X!) I am looking forward to buying this one as well. They've been hit or miss the last 20 years, but I'm a loyal music fan.
Also, not sure if it has been mentioned, Soundgarden is currently recording new material. This is not a Telephantasm type tease. Looking forward to that.
Eddie Vedder is also releasing a solo album soon and will be doing a 2 month tour to promote it. I am hoping that Pearl Jam will still tour later in the year.

I posted about that back the day it came out. Unfortunately, no one seemed to care. Great album. Just saw him preform a lot of it live in Halifax during the Canada Games. Hope he's going to go out on tour this summer.
Streaming the new Foos right now. I have some hopes but I doubt I'll like it. It's been a few years now since I feel they've done anything good. The first song is meh, and I hate the single... unless it's being remixed by Deadmau5
EDIT: People are going to go ape poop for this Foo album... it's better than I was expecting, but a little too polished for my tastes. I'll bet it sounds good live though, when Dave can get back to his punk roots. I would be willing to bet "These Days" is the next single and that it makes them a billion dollars. It's going to be the overplayed rock song of the summer.
I like "White Limo" the best... reminds me of "Weenie Beenie" from back in the day. The rest of it is 100% radio friendly... good for them, but a little disappointing when it's so obvious the band could be a lot better. I didn't make it through any of the last four songs.
It's going to make me nauseous when people call this album "heavy".
