People sometimes call me by my last name, more times than normal but when they do that they spell it right so it doesn't bug me. It's simple respect, we had someone named Christopher, called him Chris once he said he didn't like that so addressed him as Christopher from then on.
Edit: And just to point out its not a hard name its 4 letters . . .

Totally agree. Always address people by their names and get it right.
For example, I learned this in meetings that people don't like to be called, you guys, or these guys. We had a 20 something guy in a meeting keep referring to two older ladies as these guys. "Once I finish my part I'm going to pass it over to these two (pointing) and you guys can look over it." It did not go over well.
Just with a bit of awareness he could have said, "I'm going to take a few days to complete my section and It would be great if Julie and Sandy can have a look over it and finalize it. And if there are any issues, I'd be happy to work together to complete it."

Fata people who don't like "guys". Snowflake, loser, looking-to-cause-trouble Karens every time. Seriously, go fata yourself if you are offended at a group who's being referred to as "guys". It's our version of y'all, except you don't sound like a hillbilly when you say it.

You can't change people so these are just the landmines to avoid.
You might think 'guys, gals, y'all" is fine but if they don't, they won't collaborate with you and you won't get anything done. And they're seniors, who's going to win this battle?

I maintain guys AND dudes are gender neutral terms, as long as it is plural.
When it's singular, is masculine though.

Even though I hate being in the limelight, I really find it annoying when individuals are called out for any kind of accomplishments at work, but when there is something that I was solely responsible for, it's kudos to the the "xyz team". If not for some modesty and humbleness, I just want to raise my hand up and say "nope, that was 99% me!"

Meh, I like stepping in those landmines. I know "guys" isn't fine anymore in some lame circles, but in my life it's not a career-limiting move to dig in on being all, 'GFY for getting offended at something non-offensive.'
IDK why, but people usually find it funny if you don't get all apologetic. I did send a boomer woman home crying once when I offended her, but I refused to apologize other than to patronize her with, "I'm sorry you feel that way" & "I'm sorry you interpreted what I did as anything other than fun."
It's also interesting that it can be a bit of an alpha move that people - for some weird reason - respect. Like, if you get all hat-in-hand apologetic for your terrible transgression it drops you a peg in the pecking order. I guess it's what Donald Trump does, but he cranks it to a billion. Keep it at under, like, 10, and you get respect by not conforming too much on this ####.

The thing is they are not upset in front of you, they are upset behind your back and will eventually sabotage your work if there is team work.
It totally depends on the boss. Bad bosses avoid conflict and lets the toxicity continue. Even worse bosses avoid conflict and pick sides.
People quit bosses more than jobs, right?

Well, we all politik. I think the uppity types don't tend to go very far. They plateau because everybody thinks they're a tit.
Take any career advice from Sliver with a grain of salt, though. As my wife likes to remind me, a lot has changes since I left the corporate world 18 years ago.

It's exactly this kind of #### that makes me forever grateful that I've never had a boss (or worse, a boss with a boss), or had to deal with this type of pretty crap. The sheer amount of effort expended to navigate this crap, at the expense of actual productivity must be mind blowing.

I recently have taken over as the new director of an existing division. I have discovered the previous director avoided conflict and dealing with situations. As a result, toxic behavoir developed, managers were being publicly undermined, and some staff think they are too important to the organization to have to follow rules. It is going to be a tough few months sorting this out and we may lose a couple people, but it will be worth it in the long run.

I just call a group of people "party people". it works out.
Perhaps we should take the lead from Phil "Tandy" Miller here:
