It wasn't meant to be a shot to anyone. I always stated I would be happy with either result given Calgarians spoke.

My comment simply states that CSSC wanted 250million. 250 million was set aside for a 6,000 person arena. This would make negotiations easier.

Well it isn’t how I voted—but it is hard to be too mad about it. It is a decisive result and a very respectable turnout for a non-binding plebiscite.
I continue to think it was sort of goofy to have a plebiscite at all, but having done that I think the only thing to do is respect the result and let the bid die.

The no "party" is pretty funny. It's one thing to vote no - I did - but it's another to throw your hands up hooting and holler'n that voted for literally nothing to happen. Wish I could've voted yes, won't celebrate not hosting something cool that it would've been great for the city if feasible.

Yeah, not wanting a poorly defined bid in a notoriously corrupt and budget creeping endeavour.

I think there's no doubt the last year of Calgary and Alberta continuously getting dumped on, and this being the first chance to speak electorally since last October, played a big factor here. Not saying it's right or smart, but voting to send a message mattered in this race.

This city is pathetic and has lost its ambition. That said, Bidco should be ashamed at what a terrible job they did.

The real kick in the teeth is that there's a Commonwealth Games push that's biggest obstacle was having the funding source being taken by a bigger international event instead.

Hahaha and just like every time a decision has to be made, one side kicks their toys over and stomps away calling everyone else a fool stick in the mud. Majority spoke, democracy, respecting the majority that old nonsense.

Very impressive turnout, sort of cool to see so many people feel strongly enough to get out one way or the other.
