Really though, how many teams that are not on his list would be interested in a rental like Glencross? 2-3?
Not that big of a weakening of the market IMO.

Well if you believe the reports 15 teams have expressed interest in Glencross.
His list is believed to be 5-7 teams.

The contract talks are obviously going no where, he is going to ask for more money (which personally, I don't think he deserves due to injuries, production, games played) and I don't think that the Flames want to pay much more higher than he already gets because the uncertainty around his health or being able to stay healthy for extended stretches. You can see that the writing is on the wall that a new contract is not going to work out. That being said, you have to get SOMETHING for him. Not like this crap last year turning down 3rd round picks for Cammy and letting the guy walk for NOTHING.
The Flames are not in the position of strenghth here. None of this only a second pick or higher for Glencross junk- you take the best offer you get for him and run with it. At the end of the day, something is better than nothing and personally, I thought it was pretty stupid to let Cammy walk last year only to get absolutely nothing in return (thanks for holding your ground Burkie). I hope a lesson was learned from the Cammy experience last year and we get at least something for a guy that we are not going to overpay and is going to walk because of it anyways.

The big difference between this year and last is the Flames are actually in the hunt so if they do t get anything for Glencross he can still help down the stretch. The other big difference is it appears the Flames have no interest in retaining Glencross where last year they worked hard to sign Cammy to an extension right up to July 1st

Disagree. With the amount of teams calling on Glencross and the number of teams he's already agreed to waive to, the Flames are not dealing from a position of weakness either.
It's kind of maddening to read how infinitely certain some posters here are of anything they have absolutely zero internal knowledge about in terms of how the trade market operates from year to year.
I'm not saying that Glencross will get 1st or a 3rd or is only going to get 5th or a prospect the Flames don't want or anything in between. Because I have zero frickin clue how this deadline is going to shake down. Same as the rest of you guys too, you all have zero clue how things will shake down.
Even past comparables have little impact on current markets, the details vary so much from year to year.
As long as the Flames get something for Glencross that they feel they can live with, I'm good with it. Unless it's Chris Stewart, then I'll be upset. One of three players in the entire league I have no desire to see in a Flames Uniform.

True.
Glencross isnt terrible, he just doesnt fit here anymore. Hes not a part of the long-term plan.
I hope he goes to a team hes happy with and scores the goal that wins the Cup. Just so long as its not at the expense of the Flames and I hope his new team pays us dearly for the privilege.

So maybe Glencross for Moore + pick?
Moore isn't the smartest d-man and takes some stupid penalties sometimes.

why not shoot for a certain young center that had great chemistry with a certain Johnny G in college?

Sure you can try, but the Rangers seem to love Hayes and the Flames have too many young centers in the same age group as Hayes. Don't see the fit.

Just because it worked in college doesn't mean it'll work in the NHL.

I don't get this idea. How does getting whatever you can for a player you're going to lose for free when you're not going to make the playoffs anyway make you a pushover? The fact that you would take a 3 rd pick for a guy has no bearing whatsoever on what you would do next deadline. Makes absolutely no sense to me.

That same discipline to get the required asking price is probably what netted a 2nd for Berra.

He plays C/RW. Probably played as much center in the NHL this year as wing.
