Regarding A&M and the 12th man: A&M trademarked the phrase "12th man" in 1990 well after both teams had been using it. They didn't come after Seattle for using it until 2004. If you don't actively protect your trademarks you lose them. A&M had no grounding over Seattle because they didn't actively protect it. Seattle could have easily won any lawsuit that was thrown their way.
Seattle now pays a nominal fee, essentially nothing, but enough that A&M can say they are protecting their trademark.
Edit: and I believe it was actually Iowa in 1912 who started using it first.
I actually hope it snows for the game. I want this to be a memorable Super Bowl, and prove the cold weather venues can be fun. It'll open up Super Bowls coming to Green Bay, Chicago, Denver, Seattle, ect.

Yeah, I'd like to see it move to some other venues too, but Wisconsin in February?! #frozenballs

Personally I think they need to come up with a rotation of 5 or 6 cities and keep it, with the ideal cities being San Diego, New Orleans, Miami, Tampa, Houston, Arizona and Santa Clara.
Look at it this way. Say you're a fan and your team gets to go to the Super Bowl. You have the money to afford to go. Are you really psyched to pay $2,000 a ticket to sit in the upper deck in below freezing temperatures? Or would you rather pay $2,000 to enjoy 70 degrees? Unfortunately with the extreme cost of Super Bowl tickets, coupled with the fact this is a corporate game first and foremost, I suspect this will be the first and last outdoor Super Bowl in a northern city.

I'd argue that the Super Bowl is so big that people will pay, and go regardless. Because it's the frickin Super Bowl.
People also go to check out the festivities of the town. If people will go to Indianapolis, they surely will go to Chicago, or even Green Bay because of how significant the event would be there.

Manning winning a Super Bowl in the snow would kill the bad weather stigma attached to his legacy.
Sherman mentions in his article how Wilson has never played a game in the snow before, so who knows how well he will handle it if it happens. If it does snow it's Seattles game to lose.
Regardless of the weather this should be a memorable Super Bowl. I was 6 last time the Broncos played in, and won, the Super Bowl
I think if you play football in all conditions, then there's no sporting reasons not to play the SB in wintery locations. If not, they might as well only host the SB in domes. There might be economic reasons not to host the SB in locations that don't attract tourists like Cincy or Tennesse.
SB has become more of festival than a sporting event with the kick off almost being the anti climax of this whole thing. And the whole world isn't watching, don't kid yourself. Who outside of Canada understands the complex rule of American Football? Some people outside of NA are watching just because the US is a marketing and cultural powerhouse.
Yeah I saw that video a couple of months ago he really is a student of the game. If anyone thinks that last play against the the 49ers was a fluke think again. He talks about that kind of play in this video and how he try's to bat the ball to an open Seahawks player. I wish he wouldn't be so abrasive but I guess that's just his competitiveness.
Jim Harbaugh quotes from his season ending press conference:
Quote:
-Q: Saw you and Pete Carroll seemed to have a pleasant exchange after the game. Can you share what that was about?
-HARBAUGH: Oh, yeah, I congratulated him and his team moving on. Wished them good luck.
He had some very nice things to say, as well.
I think everyone saw the same thing in terms of the way the game was played, great credit to the players that played in the game, and to the coaches that coached in the game. It was a great football game.
-Q: I think Carroll said before the game and maybe even after that you and the 49ers force him and the Seahawks to be better. Do Carroll and Seattle make you and the 49ers better?
-HARBAUGH: Yes, I would. They’re an outstanding, worthy opponent, and they do.
That’s one thing about a rivalry that is a wonderful thing in football. At any level, it makes both teams aspire to be better, to be great.
They had a phenomenal year. So far, they’ve done it better than anybody else has.

Some of the NFL media is really showing how much of wussies they are by the constant complaining of the cold weather.
They should come cover the Grey Cup so they can learn to man up.
It's NY with all sorts of non football press covering things being NYC. Also, the usual NFL press doesn't have those outdoor beer garden parties to go to this year, so more complaining. And, its the Superbowl and two weeks off means every issue becomes magnified as the throngs of reporters look to put some spin on something.
I was out somewhere a few days ago and passing by a TV that had the NFL Network on, and they were already to the point of analyzing whether the Broncos and Seahawks week 2 preseason game has any meaning 5.5 months later.
Looked up the forecast for East Rutherford for next Sunday. Looks like around game time will be hovering below 0, with 50 % chance of snow/ freezing rain. If that's the conditions huge advantage Seahawks.

Keep hoping.
As the last poster says, everything gets over-analyzed and dissected before this game but at end of day it's like any other NFL game, 60 minutes between two teams who both want to win and it will come down to execution.
Peyton won his last Super Bowl in the rain. These guys are pros.

I had considered Seattle when I chose to leave Montana, but decided that there were just too many aggro #######s. I'm sure you'd love it there.
Go Hawks!
