The thing that threw me about the ending was that it immediately reminded me of The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, wherein we discover that an ancient civilization decided to get rid of all of the useless people they had around by telling them the world was about to end, putting them on intergalactic ships and sending them off to who knows where - who knows where ultimately being Earth, where said ship of fools crash-landed and depressingly, eventually became the human race.

The season 1 finale is probably the best ending I've ever seen for any series. I was so thankful that I had started watching BSG just after season 3 released on DVD. I wasted no time throwing that season 2 DVD in and felt sorry for anyone who had to wait a whole year for the second season.

Season 2 was the best of the series in my opinion. As Bigtime already pointed out, the Pegasus and Resurrection Ship episodes were epic and are my favorite episodes in the entire series.

Exodus Part II is a close second though. The Galactica jumping inside New Caprica's atmosphere was insanely bad ass. The Oath/Blood on the Scales made season 4 worth it.

I should probably pick up Blood and Chrome now that it's on Bluray.

As much as I loved those moments the best episode is still the first one after the movie where the cylons attacked at a precise interval. And the crew became extremely sleep deprived.

When the passenger liner showed up late it was heart breaking.

That may very well be the best episode in TV history.

Every 33 minutes, it's so intense and dark.

"33" won a Hugo Award. Huge 9/11 overtones.

The season one finale was the best tv season ending I've ever seen.

I can't wait for the day I can sit down with my two daughters and let them enjoy the awesome that was this show. If they dare not like it they are out of the will!

Around $150 on Amazon. Either way... It looks like I am re-watching this series.

The complete Blu-Ray set is about $60 CAD on Amazon UK, but that price includes 20% VAT, which is removed when you order internationally. After shipping to Canada it's about the same (i.e. $60).

See this thread at RFD for more details. I've never ordered from Amazon UK, but apparently this works all the time. There's a chance you get dinged with customs/duties, but even with that it's still cheaper than buying locally, however multiple people have reported ordering BSG and having it arrive via Royal Mail with no duties or taxes. Either way it's probably worth a look.

Sorry to rebump this thread, but because of the good memories of this series I decided to pull it out and watch it again from the mini series to the end.

I just finished the midway point of season two with the unbelievable three part story arc around the Pegasus.

As weird as it sounds, this series ages so incredibly well, I still find myself surprised by plot points that at the time seemed insignificant and then grew.

While the effects are solid especially in the Resurrection Ship episodes where Apollo floats in the middle of the battle the thing that sets this thing apart besides the incredible story writing is the acting.

Every single character is done incredibly well, but when you watch it again even the minor characters stand out like Callie, and Cat and Hot Dog and others. Tricia Hefler is deliciously deceptive in her role. But after getting to this point one of the best performances was Michelle Forbes as Admiral Cain, a character that I believe was driven mad by the Cylon destruction of the colonies.

She did an amazing amazing job.

So why am I writing this? Because this series like few others is worth buying the DVD's and watching them again. Its just too bad that Caprica was such a misfire because the Cylon's were a extremely interest concept.

Blade Runner was on the other day and I watched most of it from start to finish. Such a great film but i also couldn't help but think of BSG and how they took the idea of the replicants and expanded on it with the Cylons. Almost feels like the same universe.

I think I'm due for a re watch though. Watched up until halfway through season 3 as it was airing but then had a long break with no TV before I went back and watched everything again from start to finish. Looking back at this thread and clearly I was due for a rewatch about a year ago but never followed through!

Oh and never apologize for bumping this thread

Edward James Olmos has milked that idea before and I probably posted about it already in this thread but he's said that his character in Blade Runner could be viewed as a descendant of Adama and the end of BSG on Earth is the start of replicant culture of the near-future Blade Runner world on Earth leading to Cylons all over again so Blade Runner is basically a continuation of the story.

(holy run-on sentence Batman!)

Wasn't it Olmos who suggested they refer to the the Cylons as "skinjobs" in BSG too? Something adapted from Blade Runner.

Just finished watching the Episode titled Scar where Starbuck and Kat had to face off against a Cylon Raider Ace.

An amazing episode where Starbuck broke away from her tough girl persona and showed some great acting chops and some great depth to her character.

I keep trying to decide what the best episodes are, but between 33, Pegasus/Resurrection ship, Scar and all of the others its very hard to pick one. I compare this series to other great series that people have talked about on this board and to me there's no compatible to how quality BSG was.

Just to put it into perspective I own lost and I still don't have any temptation to watch it again.
