There is a really good chance that Deerfoot could flood around 5 am....and it will be a complete shutdown at that point in both directions i would think.

Any word on Scotia tower? Seems quite a bit removed from the river?

For those who are flying. I am sure you can change your flights without a change fee. I know Westjet is allowing it. If you don't need to fly out tomorrow, it might worth looking into.

No further info, but that was the temporary Calgary Police twitter account from a couple hours ago when the main account was suspended.
I assume it a reliable authority at this point, although there is a wide range of interpretations of "all major roads."

It wasn't updated for Bridgeland Industrial Area before but now it is, so thanks. As I suspected, it's the lower areas and doesn't affect us as we're up the hill.

That's what it's feeling like however with that rain system still sitting west of town and more supposedly coming there is no way to tell. But it's easier to send people back home than pick them off their roof.

Likely because those who basement's its flooded aren't in their houses. Unlike the rain of 2005, this is river issues and river issues only in Calgary (not a 4 day downpour), so anyone by the river has been gone for 8+ hours, and and they are seemingly pretty cautious to evacuate places like Windsor Park and even Riverbend this far in advance.
Probably because if the absolute worst hits at 5am, trying to get people out at 3:30 is a lot harder then 11:30.

Calgary Police twitter has them asking people to avoid the core tomorrow. I'm alright with listening to the police. (Our offices are certainly going to be closed tomorrow.)

Thanks for the response. I know that was the earlier one, but it seems to still be responding to people. The tweet about major roads was only 23 minutes ago. That would definitely answer questions about Deerfoot. If you hear anything, please update.

Deoxyribonucleic Acid, for example... sounds impressive, right? But have you ever seen what happens if you put something in acid? It dissolves! If we had all this acid in our cells, we'd all dissolve! So much for the Theory of Evolution, Check MATE!

That's actually a really classy move. Sports rivalries aside, I would help my fellow Albertans up north at the drop of a hat. I would break out my best sweat pants, and finest pair of shoes and serve with pride.
All jokes aside, thanks Edmonchuck.

I'm a teacher as well, and got a similar email from my principal about 30 mins ago. Maybe I'll find a way to spend the extra day off volunteering for something.

I work on Centre Street by the Victoria park CTrain station. Would the train even be going into downtown tomorrow?
