Interesting nobody's talked about Raonic's controversial net touch yesterday. I generally hate when crowds boo a player for talking to the ump, cause they usually have no idea what's going on and yesterday was no exception. They showed the net touch replay and the crowd fussed at how he almost bowled the net over, but I think his foot grazing the bottom was totally lost on most people. I'm betting the vast majority wouldn't even know that's an infraction anyways. So people are booing and yelling and whistling at Delpo to shut up and play, when he had a right to ask what happened.
Now that I think of it, I don't know why that particular point got its own replay, when most others did not. Often I would look up at the scoreboard after a crazy rally, and there would be nothing. Someone in the control booth was looking for some extra drama.
It's home advantage. In Flames or Stampeders game we (or I) will boo when the captain goes to talk to the ref. Doesn't matter what it's about, he's just a whiner delaying the game.

Just terrible quality. I think Pospisil will wipe the floor with either of these guys.
Pospisil has such a better all round game then Raonic. It was exciting to watch the rise of Raonic with his killer serve, but he really hasn't evolved his game beyond that, he was so much less entertaining at Davis Cup compared to Pospisil.

It's not just with the home guy's opponent, I find especially with the euro tourneys, as soon as someon even starts walking towards the ump, the whistling and jeering begins immediately regardless of nationality. I'm fine with boos if someone is being a moron (like berdych yesterday and gulbis today) but there needs to be a tiny bit of patience sometimes.
On the other hand I'm amused by these guys playing against our Canadian boys and acting shocked that the partisan crowd is getting on them. Welcome to reality, fools.

We mock Montreal a lot but that is a great crowd. When they get behind you they really get behind you, even the Europeans are shocked. There really isn't a place on Earth like Montreal.

Yup! I LOLed at the comments from Gublis post match:
Gublis: "All CAN players play well in Canada (...) and some of them, you know who, they don't play good nowhere else." He exempts Raonic.

Raonic was less entertaining at the Davis Cup because he was dominating his opponent in a way that Pospisil didn't. But man have things changed for both since then! Tomorrow is going to be interesting. Pospisil will be riding a wave of confidence and will also be the looser player due to lower expectations. But Raonic has been finding ways to win this week. That will keep him dangerous.
Also, if I have my math right, Raonic will pass Haas in the rankings after this tournament to reach a career high. A win tomorrow will put him past Nishikori as well. A win for Pospisil tomorrow, and he has an outside shot at being seeded at the US Open. Especially since his win today allows him to bypass the qualifiers in Cincinnati, making next week nothing but free points.
A lot on the line in tomorrow's all-Canadian semifinal
If Milos wins, he enters the top 10 for the first time in his career.
That will depend on Gasquet, I think.. and I didn't consider him in my post above. If Gasquet beats Djokovic, then Raonic has to win the tournament to reach the the top ten. But yeah, if Gasquet loses today and Raonic wins tomorrow, he passes the Frenchman as well.
Gasquet has no chance. Another brainless ballbasher.
If you've ever watched more than 10 minutes of a Gasquet match you'll soon realize he is the dumbest player on tour.
I have another scenario for you Resolute. If Matosevic beats Nadal tonight, it's actually him that gets the special bypass to Cincinatti and not Pospisil. But again, highly unlikely! At least from what I've seen of Matosevic, he's quite an intelligent player, the better Australian player than Tomic.

A quick peak toward next week. Vasek has received an SE for Cincinnati. He gets Gilles Simon First Round. Milos gets Jack Sock. Nadal and Federer are in the same quarter.
