Garrioch "rumors":

http://www.ottawasun.com/2017/02/04/...st-soon-enough

belief is Sharks, Kings, and Ducks are top 3 contenders for Shane Doan
Sharks have been desperately trying to get Doan for the last 4 deadlines

Coyotes are trying to sell Hanzal, Vrbata, White and Stone
Sources say Chayka isn't being realisitic with his asking prices

Sakic is asking for a high price (up to 5 elements) for Duchene because the Avs are in no hurry to make the trade
Will probably end up settling for a young defenceman, 1st round pick, and high end- prospect

Blues gave a team in the Eastern Conference permission to talk to Shattenkirk a few weeks ago but the deal fell through
At this point it makes sense for Shattenkirk to wait until July 1st as he will be the top defenceman available in free agency

Yzerman has a lot of irons in the fire.
best way for Yzerman to get a defenceman is to trade Bishop but belief is Tampa will need to take back a goalie for that to happen
Yzerman kicked tires on Duchene

I don't think they're screwed, but I do think that Lucic contract was insane, although I understand the logic behind it. Right breed, wrong horse.
I don't think it will screw them in the sense that they'll magically fall back to being a 28th-30th place team, but I think there's a good chance it could be the difference between being a perennial cup contender and a perennial playoff team. McDavid alone is probably good enough to at least get them to the dance if they have a somewhat competent supporting cast.

Doan has 4 goals and 16 points in 50gp. How does that help any team?

It's hard to find players that get away with boardings and hits from behind as consistently as Doan.

Hey Sakic, we'll give you a 1st round pick and you can select a high end prospect defenceman with it. Deal?

I think this is going to be an extremely uneventful trade deadline. I'm already feeling sorry for the guys on TSN/Sportsnet who have to sit there for eight hours talking about nothing.

I don't feel sorry for them, they get paid to sit around and tell hockey all day even if nothing happens. I take the day off almost every year and love it even if nothing happens.

I think this year will actually be busy because of the expansion draft.

Shouldn't the supposed avg draft and the upcoming expansion draft make things a bit more volatile ?

Kinda surprised there hasn't been any Doan to Mtl rumours yet. I have it on solid authority that if he was to choose one team to go to it would be them. It would be pretty tough to have to choose one team for probably your last chance at a cup (similar to Iggy)

It is too bad Chayka is asking for the moon for his rentals, Vrbata would sure help this team make a push.

The rumours are Sharks, Kings and Ducks because Doan wouldn't want to be traded far from Phoenix because of his family.

Chayka grinds my gears because he thinks all trades should be based on numbers generated from MS PowerBI (or something equivalent). My guess is his seniors are trying to tell him has to work with the other GM's and chat about team needs, but he's so hell bent on bringing his "crunched" numbers to the table he's forgetting the actual NHL business environment and playing nicely.

Chayka needs to be a management consultant, not a ####ing GM.

sorry, /rant

Doan just seems like he would be the perfect Duck. Can't quite put my finger on it, just seems to be a fit there.

Wow. Corrado, the second coming of Bobby Orr cleared? But he was being so mistreated due to his enormous untapped potential and talent. How did 29 teams pass on this?

Sorry. Still bitter that he tried to kill Gaudreau.

Any team looking for a solid faceoff guy for their fourth line might pick up Grant but his offensive abilities he had in the AHL just have not translated.

Not surprised Corrado cleared. Didn't show much after finally getting a chance to play. Sure, given the context it's hard to be in mid season form but it is what it is.
