Several other bands now speaking out about him. Finally.
Anyways...for Dream Theater fans, or most likely those that aren't, The Astonishing just came out. It's a double disc rock opera. And indeed it is a rock opera. I think they did a good job but it definitely seems to me to be a 2 hour listen every time. It runs far more pop-metal than usual but it is rock opera after all.
Phil Anselmo makes a total ass of himself at Dimebash this year. He was making anti semetic gestures and yelling out "white power". This has no place anywhere and especially not in metal music where scrutiny is heavily focused. Robb Flynn from machine head calls him out in a brilliant speech. This is a must watch for all metal heads and skeptics.
Anyone liking the new Anthrax? I wouldn't even consider myself a big fan but I've been listening to it nonstop, best vocals Belladonna has ever done and the songs are strong as hell. I bought all the albums from the 80s but last time I really got into these guys was "White Noise", I'm a bit surprised that it's so good.

New Anthrax album is great though I think I like Worship Music better. Belladonna fits the group and I'm so glad he's been back in the fold the last two albums.
Also coming out soon is a new Jelly Jam album.
Jelly Jam is Ty Tabor (King's X), John Myung (Dream Theater), Rod Morgenstein (Dixie Dregs).
This is their 4th album...6th if you include two Platypus albums which was these three guys plus Derek Sherinian (Former Dream Theater). They will be touring this album I believe.
I can't stop listening to the new Babymetal album. It helps that I already have a preference to bands that experiment and try new things, especially in metal, and that this album is a lot more serious in tone and not so cutesy. Aside from the vocals this song would fit right in on a Cannibal Corpse album
Plus there's a heavy Dream Theater influence on a few of the other songs which I really dig, and even a folk metal battle hymn. After the first album you could have brushed the band off as some weird Japanese experiment, but after listening to Metal Resistance there's obviously someone with real talent composing the songs, and I for one dig the vocals

It boggles my mind how much I am enjoying this. I should hate it, but for some reason I don't. Then I saw them on Colbert recently too, I thought it was awesome. You're right, the music itself is proper metal, not 'metal' like you'd see on a TV show or movie where they're at a concert or something.

That Colbert appearance has given them a huge bump in the last couple of days. Media websites from Buzzfeed to the New York Times had articles about it and how good it was, and the Youtube video was the #1 link on the biggest music sub-reddit yesterday (/r/music). That Colbert video is just shy of 1.3 million views and is by far the most popular music act he's ever had on the show, it'll probably be the most popular Late Show clip on Youtube in a week or two
I really want to see them live, especially in Japan if at all possible. Their big stage shows are nuts
