I only have about 300 sq ft of sidewalk, path and steps to shovel, vs. about 4000 sq ft of yard to mow. The hassle of moving a snowblower from my shed to my sidewalk is more effort than just shovelling.

Using a shovel vs a snow blower is pretty comparable to using a push mower vs a power mower, I would say.

I bought a cordless snowblower many years ago (got a smoking deal as it was end of season clearance and it accidentally got lumped in with the corded ones), as we had 100 ft of sidewalk beside our house. Of course, we ended up moving about a year later, and now I only lug it out of the garage if the snow is thick, wet and/or heavy.

Otherwise, a nice plastic shovel will get the job done 75% of the time without too much exertion if you get to it quick enough. The other 25% having a snowblower is a pretty nice luxury to be sure.

A push reel mower would be the equivalent to a snow shovel

Anyone been out on the highways in central Alberta? We have a funeral to go to in Castor on Monday and it sounds like highway 2 was closed yesterday, so I’m assuming it is still going to be dicey for a few days.

Drove from Calgary to Edmonton back to red deer yesterday. It was generally fine. Highway 2 was closed by ponoka and we took 2A from Leduc to just south of ponoka and it was fine. Just blowing snow. People were driving to the conditions though which was nice to see.

Driving back to Calgary in an hour or so, blue sky here now though.

I dont know, that doesnt bother me so much...unless its windy! In which case I'm going back to Mexico.

I suck at mixing drinks but maybe I can arrange some poolside taxes.

If I could setup my office at the pool bar and have people pay me to do taxes there, that'd be ideal.

How many in person meetings do you actually need to do? All you would really have to do is set up a secure document portal and have someone in Calgary meet with your clients to accept documents when necessary. Have that person scan and upload the files and you are set. Video conferencing for any questions. I think you can pull it off.

I might insist on an in-person meeting anyway. “Look honey, I don’t want to have to go to Mexico either, but we both know that I need to make sure taxes are filed!”

Can you use the cost to see your tax preparer as some sort of tax write-off or deduction?

Not great but traffic was pretty light so overall the drive was better than last week. For me.

A little snowy but otherwise alright...

I made it from Deer Ridge to Downtown in about 25 minutes using Deerfoot.
At 7 am...

Typical times for me.

Maybe depends on your route and your vehicle/tires? I thought it was fine today.
