What's everyone's favorite Irish movie to watch? Today after the Flames game I'm thinking Leprechaun 3 when Leprechaun goes to Las Vegas.. That or Boondock Saints
But I've spoken to multiple people who didn't know any of the real life people (Tate, Polanski, Manson) and had no knowledge of the Manson murders and it seemed like the movie fell flat for them because they didn't understand the context.
Spoiler!
It's on thing to not get why they're focusing on Tate so much. But as YB mentioned, the tension at the Spahn ranch, the entire ending and how it so perfectly subverts expectations. Even when Pitt is at the Green Hornet set with Lee, if you don't know who Bruce Lee is, I think it loses a little bit. Same with the link between the hitchhiker he flirts with and her connection to the Manson family.
There's a tension there when we learn that she's in the Manson cult. For anyone who doesn't know Tate's fate or who Manson was, I could see how that tension wouldn't exist.

Netflix's $300M The Electric State wasn't as terrible as I've read, but Millie Bobby Brown is just the worst actress--and Chris Pratt really is a one-note actor. Those two, armed with pages and pages of ####ty dialogue really sank an otherwise entertaining popcorn flick.

I do not get her appeal at all. Playing the robot girl from small wonder in Stranger Things? Does not compute.
